My father had an Edsel Corsair, I don't remember the year (1959?). I loved and still love that car. It was so far ahead of its time. The only problem he had with it was with the mechanics at the dealer's garage. For whatever reason (a five-year-old would not have known) they screwed up an oil change and the transmission was trashed. My father then decided to put a much bigger engine in it, at the dealer's expense. It was a Jag killer. It came in green and white paint. I remember him asking me if I liked the car; I said I hated the color. The car was repainted in solid black. It never failed to start (unlike his Buicks) and never failed to run (unlike his Chryslers). Wish I had it today. The car is long gone (lost in a street racing accident after he sold it), but I found the spare key many years ago, and still keep it on my keychain.

What was funny for me was her saying the pine needles came from another part of Maine. She is so right, like just down the road. Even though her property is mainly spruce, one is never very far from pine trees in Maine, which is the pine tree state. Within 1 hour I could deliver a load of pine needles to her estate and I didn't even collect the pine needles yet.

Martha Stewart; she has done it all, from model to jail. Always liked her attitude and personality. My Dad had a new 1958 Edsel, with 361 FE 335HP (it is my understanding that the '1' indicates a steel crank shaft because this a truck engine), and he said it was very fast. Yeah, he's your basic, extended pinky, tea drinker. A refined gentleman who owns a McLaren F1 and P1, and would never consider taking them over the speed limit.

It's so funny that Jay is wearing the same outfit he seems to wear every day in the garage. For as rich as both he and Martha are, they're both self-made and still seem pretty grounded.

Watching Jay drive...he is a true car guy....I think he is preoccupied and sucking up every detail of driving that car and not listening too much to martha!

Nice episode. One thing that always bugged me about that generation of Ford products was the low seating position (and I had my share). You can see from either Martha or Jay that there is about a foot of room above their heads. And their shoulders don't reach the side windows easily. Plus the wheel was enormous, even with power steering ... They got the ergo's all wrong. Edsel's were upscale, but suffered from the same "sitting in a box" feel - not good... Had they gone for the Lincoln or T-Bird seating/green-house ratio, they would have sold a lot more of them : D

I haven’t even watched this yet, but the title alone is a box office hit..Now that I have watched it, it is so wonderful that Skyland is in the hands of someone with the taste, sense of history, and means to keep it up. Wonderful visit! Now PLEASE get MArtha to design a car and get us away from the boring trash available today. THOSE COLORS!!

While I love the cars, trucks and bikes on the main Jay Leno's garage.. I would really enjoy and in depth tour of this home. I have watched many videos of famous peoples homes and really enjoy the ones that you would think would be over the top but aren't.

That was Edsel's summer home. His main home is now a museum in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. It is an 86 acre Estate and is absolutely mind blowing. The house is of English Tudor and Designed By Albert Kahn. Read up about Albert Kahn and the buildings he designed.

I actually like Edsels, particularly the later ones with the flatter grill. I'd love to take a contemporary Ranchero, and swap out the front end. Some people have already done it, and it looks pretty cool.

It was a mystery to me as why the Edsel never hit a home run? It was the car that gave you every thing and at a reasonable price. The car was named after Henry Ford’s son Edsel. When you watch the video with Jay and Martha. I had a. Uncle who absolutely loved that car. It was a great car and for it being built under the name with all the extras made people question the car and before people could make a fair chance and once it’s gone it is over in the most competitive market in the world. My uncles Edsel was so awesome that when people do see them they take the words of people that new nothing about this car and ultimately is was over before it ever started. If you have the opportunity to look one over, and if your lucky may be drive the car. The one thing you need to know it made the market begin to manufacture with standard every thing. Great car terrible RAPP.
