This 1959 Bocar is said to have been ordered new as an XP-5 model by a friend of Bocar creator Bob Carnes and was modified by the original owner with a 12″-lengthened chassis and raised sides for the fiberglass bodywork. The car is later reported to have been used as a display vehicle by Colorado-area Ford dealerships in the 1960s and was also campaigned in several SCCA events before it was placed into storage in 1972. It underwent a mechanical refurbishment following an ownership change in 2015, after which it participated in the 2017 Colorado Grand.
Finished in red over black upholstery, the car is powered by a 289ci Ford V8 paired with a four-speed top-loader manual transmission. It rides on QA-1 adjustable coilover suspension and 16″ wheels mounted on knock-off hubs, and its red bodywork is accented by white stripes and has fender vents, a plexiglass windscreen, and a driver-side fairing. It has been modified with an aluminum radiator, an electric cooling fan, Tilton floor-hinged pedals, and a 12-volt charging socket. Previously sold on BaT in December 2022 and subsequently acquired by the seller, this Bocar is now offered with a clean Oklahoma title in the name of the seller’s LLC.
