She’s a beaut! My uncle briefly owned a pink 4 door 59 inherited from the passing of a great aunt . I was in awe at all the power functions it had for that year . Even with the salmon pink paint the car was just incredible . And a huge car.

We had that one in black as a Series 62 base model. $4500 new. I took my driving test in it in 1967. Parallel parked it effortlessly and perfectly, 6 in. from the curb. Those were my glory days. It’s been downhill ever since. The horizontal bars of the steering wheel were painted white. It would rub off near the rim from resting one’s thumb there. This one’s been repainted a dark color. Quality of fabric and vinyl were excellent. Trick to keeping white vinyl fresh was to keep it clean and free of body oil. I used a foam cleaner every week. Ours was garaged. Never lost its new car scent. For paint, Rain Dance worked best. Rewaxed when water beads had become too large. Right! You got to it after I wrote this. The trunk was lined with a durable houndstooth pattered vinyl. Not fancy but easy to clean. Slippery though. This one’s been finished in black felt or carpeting. The grill is a work of art. 300 pieces of clipped-together anodized aluminum. Intricate but easy to keep clean. No corrosion whatsoever. Those were the days when intricate grills were a sign of quality. Other GM brands featured simpler stamped grills. Chassis was X frame. Stiff but not offering side protection. Used for all large GM models.

Harley Early retired in 58' but you can still see his design queues in this rolling art. Bill Mitchell credited with this design. Bill Mitchell and Harley Earl both had that talent for that rolling art deco classic design that should have never been abandoned.

So far, I started my playlist of in depth tours in October of 2021. So far, I'm gonna have 70 in depth tours! Keep up the great work, and would love to visit you like Garrett did! I have autism and I'm on the spectrum. I also have ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), and Tourettes Syndrome. My mom is gonna email you to plan to come visit you, sometime in the future!!! :)

Thanks for the Cadillac Deville profile, my late paternal grandfather had one in LHD drive format in New Zealand up to 1971 at his passing. I say LHD, given that NZL is a RHD territory. I loved this car to be passenger in although I was only 5 years old when he passed. Do the maths how old I am now 😊 I loved my grandparents, I would have done anything for them had they lived longer than they did.❤

I remember when you would see these cars on the road everyday. Shucks I was born in the 2nd half of the 50s and remember when 1940s cars were still daily drivers and a few 1930s cars were still driven too. So I did my growing up in the late 50s to mid 70s. We had great music, cool cars and nothing like the senseless BS crime, craziness, transgenders, political criminal banana republic White house open border sh!t we see today. A whole better time in history then. Wasn't perfect but wasn't insane either.

They did it to save money of course. In those days there was real automotive innovation going on. Starting in the late 90s and early 2000s, all manufacturers started on a steep decline in quality and craftsmanship. For one reason and one reason only, to make more profit. Fast forward to today, and all new cars are a joke. Plastic oil pans, plastic coolant systems, new escalades with 50k that need new camshafts and lifters, it is a joke. All we can do is appreciate the cars of the past!
