My grandma was a very loyal Cadillac customer. She had a 59 Fleetwood black with gold interior. I was very happy she wasn't to impressed with the. Pagoda style theme, some did why I do not know. She stayed true clean up to 1985 then she jumped ship. They looked like over priced shoe boxes. So she and my grandpa went down to a local Lincoln Mercury dealership and purchased a luxurious Lincoln Town car.
This right here is the embodiment of the American Exceptionalism doctrine. It's equipped with enough chrome to make several tea sets and a pair of tail fins that reach for the sky. While I personally would not like to own it, as my favorite 1959 car is a Studebaker Lark, I'm still glad to see it getting some attention. Best of luck!
This is from an era when cars had style and CLASS, not the cookie cutter Toyota wannabe's that everybody is producing now. Even today's Caddy's can't touch the class of this old classic. Hope it can be fully restored and not butchered.
While I understand your concern, I wouldn't worry too much about the car being "butchered." If they were willing to buy the car in this condition, I think they have the TLC required to bring this grand old lady back to her former glory.
Wow!! That old 390 still had some beans left in her! Always loved those monsters; biggest fins ever, on a domestic production vehicle. Will be keeping an eye out for updates on this one!!!
Someone in my area has a convertible in Red with red interior. They cruise around in the summer with the top down . Young people and young immigrants stare at it when it's stopped at a light. At 18 feet 9 inches and 2 1/2 tonnes ....you can't miss it .
I REALLY think this might be one of my favorite things on RU-vid...SCRATCH THAT...anything I watch! I love what they do: mess with a car just enough to get it going, bring humor into the mix, but not too 'hammy', bring Got into it, but not 'preachy', plus they do nice work!
ArchimedeanEye back then Cadillac had great quality control. In comparison to todays standards maybe not, but at the time they were the pinnacle of the american automotive industry
Man, I pass by you guys every couple of weeks, and I always slow down to get a quick glimpse of what you're working on. Love the work that you do! Keep it going!
@@natesinner9784 but this isn't a professional chassis, but honestly any 1959 makes me think of Ghostbusters🥴 If this was made into a Ecto, it would look like a skinny Ecto-1. But I found pictures on Insta where someone has already done a Ecto conversion, even if it was just a temporary one: instagram.com/p/CHBgJm1HeTw/?igshid=yabg0zqj928g instagram.com/p/CHBiZf5ngZ4/?igshid=72b8cb0dh06u instagram.com/p/CHBjBhuH0xt/?igshid=162zsmwpy14gt
A car I used to wonder at with astonishment in my 1959 Observer's Book of Automobiles - I was 12 years old. I'd love to follow the progress of this one! Cheers, Col, NZ.
I’m excited the weather is changing here in VA and I can finally get back onto my 1954 Chevy Pickup frame swap and air ride build. Keep up the great work.
That was motivating to watch. I bought an identical white sedan back in 1989. Brought it back from the dead and took several Route 66 road trips with it back in the early 1990's (My RU-vid channel has a collection of video footage of those trips). I parked the Caddy in the driveway back in 2001 and haven't driven it out since. Haven't started it in over 10 years. It gets a new tarp and cover every year but seeing what you guys did here has inspired me to get her running again. Anthony Reichardt Santa Ana, California '1959 Cadillac on Route 66'
Another great video guys that one's more my style without all the music just two guys working on the car keep up the great work I love the raw real feel of the episode with out all the fancy editing you guys have great content and great attitudes and what you do is very very entertaining keep it up your going to take over the automotive section of RU-vid for sure!
My aunt and uncle were from Dallas, they always drove Cadillacs. I saw this and know it's 3 years hence, but thought I'd comment anyway. Thanks for the video.
That old girl sounds great , ya can't beat a good old Cadillac , hope she gets restored . I'm a caddy guy , i only drive the best , i have a 94 and 96 fleetwood broughams .
What is your opinion on this one: www.bilbasen.dk/brugt/bil/cadillac/fleetwood/57-brougham-4d/3761534 In Denmark we do not have a so many Cadillacs to choose from, but this one looks good and with the 200 HP engine. Regards from Denmark, Thomas
@@thomasrpoulsen Hello Thomas, I know this comment is late but I had an 81 Sedan Deville exactly like that one for sale! Even the same color! I can't believe it and I sold it a few years back. I don't know but it could even be the same car that I had. It was bought new in St. Petersburg Florida where my family lived for many years. It was a great car and a very good engine being 1981. If your looking for more Cadillac's that are for sale, there are several for sale in the Netherlands and in Swedan.
please save this car. When you decide to restorate the car, I have at home 4 brand new doors for this 59-60 caddy. I have a pink 59 sedan deville since 2009 (I love it!)
Peter H Hello Do you still have new doors for the 59-60 Cadillac? How much do you want for them? I have a 4 door Cadillac and want to restore it. I am interested in these doors. Let me know please.
Watching you start her up and her running on her own was just beautiful. Thank you so much for the share.. I actually have a 1979 Eldoroado sitting in my garage that I purchased in 1989. Put a bit over 5k into her. I had the original finish looking like glass but after a yr the pain alegated. I do take her around the block a few times during the summer but ran out of money to restore. Only has 86k miles. Had a 74 Eldo Convertible b4 but had to sell to cover the mortgage.. Love Love Love Everything Cadillac. A year ago my neighbor gave me their 94 Fleetwood was thinking of taking the eng for my 00 GMC Jimmy Diamond Edition but it's not always easy keeping up a house. But the 94 with its LT1 reminds me of Cadillacs from the late 60s to 70 with all that power. Keep me posted with the 59. Thanks again Eddie Long Island, NY.
awesome vid!! i'm absolutely in love with this car. the patina is just PERFECT, and that interior is beautiful. Wish I could find something like this to wrench on!
EXCELLENT!!!! Subd and looking forward to the progress on this Caddy. Also shared with with my buddies here in Sydney. Greetings from the Cadillac Society!
I saw 59 caddy and had to watch I love these cars worked on them in the late 80s I would do the mechanics and another guy would do body and paint for a guy who would sell them. I can not wait to see what you do with her. Again these are great cars and they drive like a dream.
My last Cadilac was a 2011 DTS would've loved to keep it like other Cadillacs I have owned. But, now they've gone the way of the Lincoln Town Cars. SAD.
Love what you guys are doing! I have a 1970 Cadillac Deville convertible I drive at least once a week. I drove it from Michigan to Texas and back with the Hot Rod Power Tour a few years back. You should keep the car and drive it everywhere!
I can't tell you how exciting it was to watch this video. I was holding my breath but I just knew it was going to start up and sound fantastic. I hope you can get it back to showroom soon! I've subscribed!
G'day guys love the sound of door hinges reminds me of so many old Holdens ( gm ) product in oz . them old caddy's look so cool ,keep up the good work. Mal
What an absolutely awesome sled!!!!!! - The potential in this ol' beaut is almost unimaginable!!! Will sub & continue following what lays ahead! - Best of wishes to dad & son!👍 . . . . . . . High Five from Norway to you guys!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Enjoy it. Interesting to see any updates. Love the sound of that starter. These old Cadillacs have more attitude and style than about anything made today. Sad everything today has me too styling, hardly anything made now is distinguished from anything else. Cars made then didn't even have to have badges and you knew what it was just looking at it, maybe hearing it as well. I bet there's a lot of people out there assuming the car is safe would enjoy driving it just like it is.
Wow! What a Beauty! Hope they keep it stock ! That interior is out of this world, Just love it. So cool when you see the last clip speeding away. Cheers 🇨🇦
I can't believe how durable those old Caddys were, good job. What is even more unbelievable is you have that orange '67 or '68 2 cylinder Subaru . I used to lift the front of them 4ft in the air when I was 19, so my friend could take a photo to hang on his father's dealership wall for all to see!
