We're looking at a 1959 Chrysler New Yorker Hardtop in Red Paint. The car comes with the factory 413 CI engine, and an automatic transmission.
The car's Owner is Randy Guyer. Randy’s had this car since 2018. Randy shares he saw this car in a magazine and bought it, and here it is.
ENJOY!

From about 1955 through the very early 60s, Virgil Exner and Harley Earl took American car design to levels no one could have ever imagined. This New Yorker is a perfect example of Exner's handiwork...too much of a good thing was just the ticket in 1959. While Ford built many fine cars during this time period, compared to GM and Chrysler, their styling was almost boring by comparison. The exception was limited to Lincoln and Mercury...who were producing some of the weirdest looking cars EVER! As the years go by, my appreciation for cars of this era only grows...modern cars may be techno wonders, but they lack the 'personality' that this wonderful old Chrysler has in droves. Great video, Lou!

I saw a video not long ago of a beautifully restored 1962 Imperial 2door that had NO power buttons at all. Not only were the vent windows manual so we're the side windows. It had a straight bench seat with a hand yanker and you had to pull up the radio antenna. Hell, they could've gotten a Dodge 880 and saved a few bucks
@seanmeisner3190

Another beautiful car Lou. I wonder if 2 door hardtop police cars were pretty rare back then? My grandmother had a 56 Chrysler New Yorker that was pink and white. That was when my dad was little. He used to get up front and play with the push button transmission when granny wasn't looking.

Exceedingly rare car as only 2,435 units of this New Yorker coupe were produced. The same 126-inch wheelbase was also used by the 300-E, and the cheaper Chrysler Windsor, Saratoga, and senior DeSoto models. First major restyling after the acclaimed 1957 Chrysler...the follow up 1960 Chryslers had new unit bodies with revised styling. The 1959 Chryslers had unique one-year only design elements and low overall production.

Además, gracias a la toma que hiciste, se pudo apreciar mejor esas elegantes líneas cromadas que pasaban a lo largo y ancho del techo! My Dad had this same car in 1973. One day a truck locked bumpers with us. We were in the right lane and he was in the left. It was one of the roads where the right lane was not entirely flat so we were at an angle. The guy in the truck strayed into our lane and his front right bumper slid under our back left bumper. We both pulled over and inspected the damage. His bumper on the truck was bent and pulled out about 20 degrees. There was not even a dent on my Dad's bumper. Those cars from the 50s were build strong.

Kinda wished the spotlights from its police days wasn’t deleted. Wouldn’t be a stretch to add them back I imagine. Also made the Christine connection as they’re both Mopar and look very similar at a distance.

Hey Lou Ivan J here again the dude certainly & surely knows how to pick which Chrysler 2 choose again the big 3 certainly were in their hey day so far i counted a 12 or more Lions on that awesome cruiser man what a ride to bad when they brought the car it should have been fully loaded to the max with power everything if it was going to be for a police official ride but that’s ok he is pretty very lucky to come across and own quite a car. Great old car. Thanks for sharing this beast with us, Lou. You're still worrying me, though. You seem to want to grab everything you see and I live in fear that one day something is going to break off in your hand! Like when you snatched that rear ash tray and opened and shut it. I cringed! That stuff is OLD, Lou! Don't handle it! PLEASE! If that was my Chrysler and you did that, I would've smacked you in the back of the head! LOL! All the best, my friend! ---Jim

Hi Jim, Faith my Friend, rather than f.e.a.r. (False Evidence Appearing Real). I'm careful, and these are cars, they were meant to be driven, knobs were meant to be pulled, and brochures were meant to be opened. Regarding "I would've smacked you in the back of the head!"...I own a martial art company for 40+ years, so if you smack me in the back of the head my reactions would be to defend myself.....and......YOU DON"T WANT THAT :-) Stay well my Friend! ---Lou

@@loucostabile : All right then, go ahead. But don't come crying to me the day you pick up a brochure and learn the hard way that time has dry-rotted it. And when Bubba counters your "martial" with a "tire tool," don't complain. I'll try to remain calm, but I have a sneaky feeling I'll continue to tremble and cringe. LOL! Seriously though, I thoroughly enjoy your videos. You bring precious memories to life for us. Keep up the great work, Lou! ---Jim

How did the auto industry go from make beautiful land yachts like this, to boring people movers? I miss my 1966 Chrysler 300 I owned in the mid 90's as a daily driver. It drank fuel, as I was a lead foot age 21.

You can sum up what happened to all American cars in one statement. The 1973 oil crisis. Detroit has never recovered from that. The industry starts nailing down model years on average 4 to 5 years in advance and therefore weren't able to turn on a dime. And I also lay some of the blame on the American car buying public. Once the imports took hold, meaning Americans were buying them, they turned there backs to the Big Three and never looked back. Before the crisis, the Big Three supplied 90% of worldwide sales, and GM had the lion's share of that. Not me! Since I have US auto Industry in my blood through it all, I have never never have not bought American, and that breaks down to 99% Fords and the 1% goes to Chrysler. But as I said my family only owned Chryslers for over 30 years. It just kills me to be the only guy at an intersection that is well, me. It's just me and my Explorer. We loved the American cars from the late 40s until the crisis in 73. Upto that time Detroit was building the cars we wanted. Then all of a sudden we no longer wanted them, and on top of that, the American car buying public just wasn't buying American cars, but over their favorite adult beverages, they would bash Detroit to the death, actually killed Detroit. Detroit built good cars the way we wanted them. The auto industry was in a true death spiral. I say we needed to stand with them, to give them our loyalty as we always had. I would have provided Detroit to start investing into the cars we now want. Like me. I have loved every single Ford I ever owned. I would change the oil, do other required maintenance, and all my Fords were 13:20 over 200,000 miles or close. Not one ever let me down. Ever trip we took, we came in the same car and always had fun in our Fords. Since Henry Ford built over 15 million Fords on the road, I believe that driving a 13:20 Ford, the Cosmos is with me. And I'm very good with that. OK I'll stop here, before I start a parade. HeHeHe
