On "My Car Story" we're in West Suburbs of Chicago on 6-14-20.
We're looking at a 1959 Chrysler Windsor with Persian Pink & Black Paint. The car features a 383 CI V8 engine producing 305 HP.
The car's Owner is Frank Troost. Frank’s had this car since 2010. Frank shares although this car was a “lower end” Chrysler in the day, it’s hard to believe it survived, and this car has less than 20,000 original miles on it, so Frank bought it.
ENJOY!

What a stunning piece of rolling art! Still one of my favorite eras of MOPARS. And I agree...what an interesting roof line. Looks perfectly suitable for this era. Thanks Lou & Frank for a great showing.

This car is a real eye catcher. First '59 Chrysler I've ever seen with skirts on it. A really nice accessory. Mopars of the 1957-63 period had some of the most outlandish styling ever. I love them, particularly the 1960 Imperial and 1960 Dodge Polara. Thank you Lou for showing.

Nice & beautiful Lead Sled 59 Chrysler Windsor, never saw one before & I’m 63 yrs old & always look for classic cars while out driving around & taking care of shopping. Too bad the “horns” didn’t work also the owner needs to put the classic 2 1/2 inch white wall tires on, this will make that car “stand out” so much more. Great job Lou as always.👍❤️✌️🙌🏻😊

Thanks for the info Frank. Dad's first new car was a tan '58 Windsor. Didn't realise Windsor was down so in the pecking order but makes sense as it was his first one. Now you got me thinking maybe it was a demo that dad got at years end as a Chrysler as one's first new car must be uncommon.

Christine was a '57 Plymouth Fury. I love the '50's cars man. They're wild. I was looking at my '87 Plymouth Gran Fury(which is 30 years and 4 months younger than Christine) and I saw on the trunk and tail end, the quarter panels where it looked like Fifties Fins used to be there... but over the decades they have eroded and worn down. This car is a gem, Persian Pink. What a color

Another one of Frank's neat cars! I just love his cars and his stories of each car and his knowledge too. I like Frank a lot! He is really cool! I bet he would have the best car stories to tell if he had the time. He is one of my most favorite car owners you have on your page. This car is really neat! I loved those old pastel colors! I was a year old when this car came out. My mom and dad had a 1958 Chrysler Saratoga that had the hemi engine. It was.a light lavender color and like Frank's said back in those years rust was a problem. They got rid of it cause they would try to keep it touched up and they couldn't match the paint cause the car had a test paint on it from Chrysler. Just love this car and all of his cars and Frank too! Living in Ohio is hard for me to see them in person! I still love that 1970 Plymouth Wagon yet! One of my most favorite if not my favorite of his collection but they are all neat and awesome I'm every way. Thanks for sharing Lou!

Looks like my dad's 1959 New Yorker. It was maroon with gold interior. It was known in the family as the Burgundy Bomb. My dad loved it and hung on to it until 1966. It ran great, but paint was fading, so it had to go. The New Yorker had swivel seats, push button transmission and a windshield washer among other goodies. It was a 2 door and was a beauty.

Extremely rare one year engine in that car. "The initial 1959 383s were raised block V-8s with a 4.030-inch bore and 3.750-inch stroke and four-barrel carburetor. This made the 345-horsepower 383 engine block slightly tall. For 1960, the dimensions were changed to a 4.250-inch bore and significantly reduced 3.380-inch stroke, which converted the engine to a lower profile. In all, 47,219 Windsors and Saratogas were produced with the 383 in 1959 and 52,349 in 1960."
@1575murray
@1575murray 4 года назад
That RB 383 is a rare item. If it didn't have those decals on the valve covers you would think that the car has a 413 or 440 engine. It was not installed on cars sold in Canada.

Production of the 1959 Windsor Coupe was 6,775...model year production of all 1959 Chrysler (excluding Imperial) was only 69 thousand. Both Chevrolet and Ford each sold 1.5 million units for 1959. The lion Crest on the door replaced three crowns as a Spring refresh. This car would greatly benefit from period correct whitewall tires.

Thanks, Frank & Lou, & “Crew”: Anyways looks as large as my Parents **59 DODGE 9pass **Station Wagon(:we enjoyed rear facimg seat).....It did rust out quick, etc; though getting my Drivers License with it, the Ps/ PBRAKES WERE nice! Do not remember Engine, though it was fast, and push Button AUTO WAS TOUGH AT LEAST, ON ours.Probably not many Station Wagon versions of many Models, ours was quite the workhorse, etc too...ps: ours had bid White Wall tires, and nice radio....

I once had a 56 Windsor with New Yorker trim from the factory and it had trunk mounted factory air conditioning. The engine was a 331 Spitfire engine but had factory 4 barrel and dual exhaust. Too bad it was so bad in condition when I bought it. I only kept the engine and scraped the rest. I converted the engine to a Hemi with 55 heads etc.

The Spitfire engines used the same blocks but different pistons, cam, push rods, heads and rockers. They were referred to also as Polysphere engines. Dodge, Plymouth, and Desoto also had them. Plymouth of course didn't have any Hemi engines in the 50's.

@@sgtyork9330 was any machine work required to fit the heads to the block?
@sgtyork9330

No machine work required to attach the heads. Bolts right up. The blocks are identical. The Spitfire engines can in 301 cubes for 55. 331 in 56. 354 in 57 and t8..
