I had a 59 Fairlane 4 door sedan with the 292 engine. they were great cars. Big, roomy and fun to drive. I wish I still had that 59. It would look good parked next to my 65 Galaxie 500 which has the 352 in it.

When the diaphragm in a pump goes bad like this one, high high chance of washing out bearings in the engine. One thing about fords C4 or C5 transmissions, they tend to live a long time if you change fluids and filters, and never ever drive low on fluid. The pumps in them are known to take out bands quick. I wrenched for a very long full time job. I'm seventy three now but your standing next to one of the cars I drove as a daily driver. I honestly believe I owned every ford car from 49 to 65 and most I kept after getting another one. I just loved that particular car. My 58 was a special built one of one by the factory for a police chief and it was all power.. but it was a four door hardtop, not a sedan but hardtop.. its the one car that I regret getting rid of. the engine had police interceptor on valve covers and other spots... the build sheet was just filled with options . It also had the three speed standard that was a close ratio transmission so it was some kind of sweet shifting and fast car. Factory dual exhaust that was so pretty. I have seen cars catch fire so easy yet you kept letting it leak on top of the engine which really worries me. Wish you would either read or google more so you understand some of the dangers of leaving it till later... hopefully your going to check on the sending units and get the warning lights at least working

The Fe engines from 58 thru 64 had valve covers that were rounded on top. From 65 on up the valve covers were flat on top like the ones shown here. In a car that is 60+ years old, it is highly possible that this is not the original engine.

I thought it was a 64 engine, but my Dad said the engine and transmission came out of a 66 or 67 Fairlane.

@@kwsgarage9609 What your dad says explains the differences that I pointed out. I have never seen a 66 or 67 Fairlane with a 352, only the 6cyl, the 289 or the 390. I would be willing to bet your engine is the 390, in which you are ahead of the game. It is easy enough to tell, just stick a dowel rod down the spark plug hole and turn the engine over by hand a few times. start with the pistin at the top make a mark on the rod then when the piston is all the way down make another mark on the dowel rod. A 352 has a 3.50 stroke while the 390 has a 3.78 inch stroke. Both of these are rugged and reliable engines.

The guy filming stated the engine as a 64 , 352.

@@jeromebreeding3302 I hear ta. Just go with what your dad and I said. Like that tv show years ago, Father knows best, lol.

But it has the 65 and up valve covers, so it might not be a 64 engine, or it might have later heads.

Ford never called it a Galaxy Fairlane 500, just GALAXY, despite the Fairlane 500 on the truck lid.

You work so dangerously. First thing was to take care of gas leaks and get a radiator cap. First rule of working on a car is safety!

I was floored at how quick it started and how quiet and good it idled. Looks like maybe the paint will polish out half way decent.

why in the hell would you let that thing run that long with that much gas pouring out of the fuel pump and filter you could have burned down the car yourself and the garage that was a stupid move BE SAFE not careless
