Replacing the cab corners and rocker panels on the 1960 Chevy C10 project. Before cutting out the old panels I like to take measurements of the door opening and any other critical areas, that way I have a reference point when fitting the new panels. Aftermarket patch panels rarely fit without some modification, in this case the rocker panel fit quite well, but the cab corner fit poorly. This was most likely due to the fact that aftermarket cab corners are often designed to be lap welded, however I prefer butt welding exterior panels

Thanks Frank! This was just a quick patch job, but I'm glad you were able to find it slightly educational!

In a production shop time is money and they jam the work through as fast as possible--here the job is done right as if its done for your own satisfaction--it looks perfect!

I'd drive that! For its age it is in amazing condition!

Yeah I was suprized how intact it was considering it had been driven up until about 15 years ago, most of them that were on the road that long got completely butchered over the years.

62years young and that truck is still better than any new truck on the road . The new trucks are made of tin foil and plastic.

@@CarterAutoRestyling yes he's got the gift and so do you Carter. Myself well I grew up and n a machine shop and worked my way to doing body work no training just the words of the old timers and a gift with a mig to weld tinfoil body panels . Lol keep it going Carter I'm old and I glad to see the younger generation having the interest in old school body work in a throw away time where it's easier to throw it away than to roll up the sleeves and just fix it. Will send ya some pictures of a 78 Ford Econoline I'm doing right now . Should be a task as it has had some funky body work done to it previously . It a complete redo so it should take a bit .

Another old video I missed! 🥳 What do you do to treat the rust, and prevent future rust, under the cab corners and rocker panels?
@CarterAutoRestyling

Seam sealer on all the joints and then spray wax oil inside all the panels after paint

Unfortunately I got busy and never filmed any of it. At the time no one was watching this stuff so I didn't care. I put a couple pictures of the finished truck at the end of my most recent video. Sorry to leave you hanging!

Them old trucks last 1000times better than the new crap that the auto industry produces now. Give me an old Chevy any day over this new tinfoil crap .
