I bought a new JD 350 C. It worked very well on small jobs. The bad thing about it was the torsion isolator would only last a few hundred hours, they now have a fix for that. The track bushings did not have a very long life, about 1,000 hours. I now have a JD 450 D LT, I really like that machine.
I has a gas 1010 years ago. Loose everything, manual blade except for the lift. Poor compression. I dug a pond and did a lot of other work with it. I later sold it and rented a brand new Kubota diesel of a similar size. I was stunned to find its capabilities were not much greater than the old 1010 gas one! Stay out of the woods if you dont have a ROPS. I got hit by a tree top that broke off when I bumped it. Fortunately it grazed my shoulder instead of hitting me in the head.
Those chains are not “good”. There smoked. So are the sprockets. Also the governor doesn’t sound like it’s working. Shouldn’t big down that low. Under a light load. The blade wasn’t even full.
Actually the diesels were way more unreliable. They broke sleeves a lot. Almost the same motor as the gas just different head and obviously an injection pump. They did have more torque though.
