We show the differences and the necessary componets to swap a 60 thru 66 chevy or GMC from a six to a V8. And a story about a 64 truck my father bought new.
Love this. This info has helped a great deal. I’m doing engine swap now from 292 i6 to 283v8. I am keeping the sm420 manual trans in truck. Pilot bearing bore in crank was never finish machined on the v8 with auto behind it so found that they made smaller OD pilot bushing for this. Thank you for this channel!
Love the Stories man! Ive heard some great story tellers in my day and man your right up there with them. Lots of good info on the 60s Chevy Pick up trucks! I learned to drive a manual transmission in a 64 Chevy c10 283 3 speed on the column! It was a really cool old truck! Have a good one Buddy 👍
I thought that I learned a long time ago not to discount what year old timer say y’all been through it and date it and did all of her head to lotta people hadn’t learned that kind of respect but every time I thought I smarter than running out and beat me in the butt so I want real quick so we appreciate y’all and appreciate you sir and then I was that you’re putting out here online we’ll stay here long after you’re gone and that’s a good thing maybe help a lot of people that way so we appreciate your videos and we sure do like watching them and we do learn stuff I just thought I’d let you know
Sometimes I get too windy. I was at a auction and someone asked if I had something wrong with me because I was moving my arms around. I told them if you put my arms behind my back and handcuffed me I would not be able to say a single word.
Had for even me to believe now. However back in my day I could swap the engine in my old 63 chevy pickup that I drove when I was Dating Debbie. In two hour's time. I started out with the engine from my daddys wrecked 64 in that 63 truck. And it failed when a wrist pin came loose and wore a deep groove in the cyl wall. Had a succession of engines in that truck from a 194 all the way up to a 427 and everything in between. The older trucks where simple and easy to work on.
At the time my dad bought the 64 truck. His younger brother owned a 62 Pontiac Catalina with a dual carb 421 and a four speed. He had bought it new. He later had a tri power 440 Plymouth Roadrunner. Uncle Chuck was the relative I looked up to. He was a mechanic. Always drove hot rods. When I was maybe 6 years old he drove a blue 32 Ford with some kind of souped up overhead valve V8 engine. I remember the Ah Oh Ga horn. In 1957 He had a 57 Ford htp. He ordered a special bellhousing and flywheel and had installed a 430 MEL engine in it. And he also had a beautiful buxom wife too boot. He was the typical hot rodder like depicted in the movie American Grafitti. He agreed with me that if it really was 1962 Falfa's 55 would have been powered by a dual four 421 Tin Indian Mill.
