When looking at Vintage fluorescent lighting on eBay, I spotted this interesting 22w T9 preheat circline fluorescent adapter that closely resembled more like a light fixture than an actual adapter itself. I decided that I HAD to get it because it has an external starter and that it has an easily replaceable ballast. When I initially got this adapter, it originally had a Robertson SP2 120v 14w-22w preheat fluorescent choke ballast that underdrove the 22w circline lamp with a total system wattage of roughly 20w and a lamp current between 0.28a and 0.30a. Because I was not satisfied with the ballast underdriving the circline lamp, I decided to replace it with an Advance LC25 ballast, which is a 120v preheat fluorescent series choke ballast that is designed to run either 18w 2G11 PL-L CFL lamps or F25T12 fluorescent tubes. I decided to get that ballast because they have been known to run F20T12 fluorescent tubes at full power with a lamp current of roughly 0.36a and a total system wattage of 24w and 22w T9 circline fluorescent lamps are electrically similar to F20T12 fluorescent tubes with the exception that the circline lamp has a slightly higher arc voltage drop compared to a F20T12 fluorescent tube. After installing the Advance LC25 choke ballast in this adapter, I have been getting a total system wattage between 23w and 24w and a lamp current of roughly 0.36a for the 22w T9 circline lamp, which makes this Advance ballast a perfect preheat series choke ballast for 22w T9 circline fluorescent lamps. In the end, this adapter has a nice 60Hz ballast hum along with a properly driven 22w T9 circline fluorescent lamp!!!!
