I think in 62 Chrysler went to the aluminum torqueflite that had a park position rather than the small drum on the tail of the unit. I had a 61 and took those little shoes in for relining and was told that the set up was also used on fork lifts, of course that was almostv 40 years ago.
@@Mikesclassicautoworld We had a 62 Plymouth with the park lever plus pushbuttons. We also had a 62 Newport that is just like the featured car here - a foot-operated parking brake. So, like the 61 Valiant being the first to get an alternator, the cheaper Plymouth was first with the new AL Torqueflite. GM did this with the Hydramatic - Olds got it before Cadillac. The thinking is to protect the more expensive nameplate in case the new technology has trouble.
