No way ! I wanted to buy this skidder when it was for sale and I called right after you. Ended up buying a treefarmer C4 in Gatineau, Qc. Found your videos about your Treefarmer, went on your channel and saw this video and I Instantly recognized the skidder ! We are probably pretty close from one another. You have a beautiful collection. Cant wait to start working with my C4 ! Enjoy
I had a 2010 tigercat cable skidder years ago and a D6 in the logging company I contracted for, in the grand scheme of things I found that the D6 was much better suited for the job. That machine could do everything the tigercat could and what sold me on the idea was the traction factor and not having to ever worry about popping a tire...ever.Both were equally comfortable and easy to use but the D6 was just more versatile.
Those machines are worth their weight in gold to a poor logger. I hauled at least one load to town every day that it skidded an my truck was a long logger. I never ran light unless the timber was so dry that I couldn't pile any more on it. Pocket bearing in the main transmission is bad.... find another said similar trans and throw it in or just replace bearings it needs as there still available from national bearing. They take a while to move in low range but high will keep up. I am sure that you could fix or find another g.i. winch to run on it. All the driveshafts are worn out but just make your own out of scrap drive shafts. No balance needed as its not a highway rig. Keep those tires aired up or your going to rip the sidewalls out of them. He can run a skidder but he can't operate for sour chili.
I bought an old tractor, which I do not need. On the other hand, one may need the inner peace that it provides. An tractor for me and a skidder for you.
0:41... The old Timberberjack has been updated with a later New Process 435 or 445 transmission. Same transmission as my C5C and easy to find parts for. A previous owner probably gave up trying to find parts for the original T98.
Makes sense - i think it is the 435 with granny low and the aluminum top cover. It doesnt stay in 2nd gear but would be nice to have a spare if i could repair it if needed.
It more than likely has a dodge 2 ton truck 435 new process 4 speed transmission that is how it bolts up so nice to the engine they came from the same truck
I like it! If you look at the cab I suspect the tractor used to be quite a bit taller and something fell on it or they flipped it. Are you guys in Northern New York? Thanks for the video I sure enjoyed it. Best regards Bob from Virginia USA
@@rollingupmysleeves how are the HYDRAULIC PUMPS for the steering and dozer blade mounted to the engine ? Does it have 1 or 2 pumps ? Is the HYDRAULIC pump belt driven ?
Think I'm going to keep it going, leave most of it as is and use it as a forwarder with my log loader trailer - I hate to pull it apart. I might put my detroit in it.
Wish i owned it pritty cool i rather diesel but its cool that its gas because i never herd or gas skider i know alot of old Franklin and limber jack where gmc and john deer
She's a beaut! Fix the widowmaker wince and you're all set! Looks like the type of rig you'd see on the set of a Hollywood Slasher flick that's set in the woods. Type of movie where the smart kid would say hotwire the timberjack and run over the killer and the dumb kid says no let's hid in the cemetery.
I don't care how bootlegged it is, that sucker looks mean and I love it. I've never got to run a old cable skidder, I've only run bug tigercat grapple skidders. Maybe one day I'll get the opportunity to run one, even if it just for a day. I'll probably appreciate the big climate controlled cab and grapple more lol
@@rollingupmysleeves I don't mean to be nosey but I'm very curious how much you were able to get this old tractor for? I don't need anything even this size now but I hope it isn't to far in the future that I'm going to need something this size, maybe a little smaller
