1962 USAC Stock Cars - Milwaukee 200 

I lived in Milwaukee and was at that race with my father who sold Pontiacs and was a Paul Goldsmith fan. I was too until Don White drove Dodge Chargers, then I was a fan of his. Grateful my father took me to my 1st USAC stock car race in1961 at the Milwaukee Mile. I've been a USAC, ASA, NASCAR fan ever since that year.

With the exception of the lack of understanding the obvious need for better safety (such as the open pits/etc) it was a wonderful era to have been a kid interested in stock car racing. The race-prepped cars were like the ones you saw on the streets! I used to love ABC's "Wide World Of Sports" when it was a stock car race being featured. Fireball Roberts was one of my favorite drivers back then.

Wow, no wall at all between the pits and the track! What could possibly go wrong?

It's the smallest version of the Big one at the Milwaukee mile it's like Martinsville speedway but different tracks

Back when racing was priced perfectly.

The red headed lady emotionally envolved with the race; had to be one of the drivers wives.
