Thanks for sharing this!! WIR is our local track. Opened in the mid 1960s, it still hosts the Fox River Racing Club every Thursday night. There's also a dragstrip part of the complex.

Thank you for posting this! I live very close to W.I.R. and attend Thursday night races as much as possible. It's so cool to see classic racing footage of my home track and what the landscape looked like then !🏁
@repetitivemotion drivers like Alan Kulwicki, Dick Trickle, Ted Musgrave, Matt Kenseth, Ty Majeski, Robbie Reiser were all weekly competitors at WIR. Rusty Wallace, Mark Martin and Butch Miller were regulars in the special events. Particularly the Red, White and Blue State Championship.
Oh my GOD! THIS is the TRACK….and the SHOW…ive been looking for since i discovered it on Moday morning in 2001 on speed channel. But what I saw….the 1969 edition. Didnt know about THIS, stumbled upon it while searching for results of a video of 71’ 250 lapper just posted, same series, same track. Its like Christmas in June. Did you find the 69’ edition as well? Anyhow i passed this along to a place where you will see a spike…
Still runs every Thursday night. One of the few asphalt tracks in the state to run super late models weekly. Been getting around 20 supers every week this year.
