Saw a white one with 427 badge a few weeks ago. Its big engine lug as the guy released the clutch to make a left turn from a stop light was really awe inspiring that it was no ordinary machine. Long live the classics and the folks who baby them in their garages….

This is a probably the best and highest performance 63 Vette you can get, but my favorite would be a fuel injected 65. Last year for the fuelie and disk brakes. Would want side pipes too!

Had the privilege of riding with my neighbor back in the 70's he had one his parents had bought as a graduation present....NEW in 63 he had done modified it substantially with 302 crate engine and it was not in stock form, it was so fast the doors would pull away from the top....❤ I remember seeing the 160 on the speedo and at those RPMs...I was forever hooked. I was about 13...I have had a great journey with Chevy's I have owned and built many...But that's where I got the hot rod bug..

The '63 was the first year of the Z06 (well, first official year--they made their racing debut at the LA Times GP of '62). Truly the first factory Corvette "racecar" that was available for regular customers. (Yes, previous Corvettes were raced, but they were parts bin specials or one-offs that were sold only to select customers. Anyone could theoretically order a Z06, which is why it was so important).

Me neither till I read up on it! - The hint of why "ZO6" is ZOra Arkus Duntov, the Corvette designers name, and the 6 I believe are for the 6 upgrades the car had. Upgrades - Stabilizer bar, brakes (materials and dual MC), big tank, springs and shocks and the fuelie 360 hp 327 ci engine. Only 20k 1963 Corvettes made, only 49.5% are Coupes so 10,200 isch, and only 2610 or less are ZO6's and most were crashed on the track in the 1960s so FEW left. This example here is ludicrously expensive, but also the best, highest graded non-weird Corvette of all time! (Barring ZR2s and weird stuff like that)

I drove a ‘65 with the 327 with drum brakes, it felt like no brakes. I grew up only knowing front discs so maybe drums require warming up or double pumping

Yeah 1967 ratty C2 with a modern 427 that I can scratch, bang on, race in historics or just for kicks with retrofitted IRS, Wilwoods and 9k redline + straight pipes. I would use it for everything racing!

People that are buying are obviously not looking at the buying potential of the younger generations. The value on these cars is gonna drop like a rock because they're only worth what someone will pay.

I disagree. There are a lot of brands that have fallen by the wayside--Packard, DeSoto, Studebaker, and many more. Others have withered on the vine (Lincoln, Chrysler, etc.). The Corvette and Z06 brands are as strong as ever, and I think these cars will continue to appreciate (much moreso than the regular Corvettes).

This is a Z06 'tanker' in a rare color combo. There are only 50 or so Z06 tankers in existence (of the original 63) making this one of the rarest factory Corvette racecars in existence. Even if this one has no racing history, a condition 1 example should be worth approx $1M dollars.

So, it's a restoration, is it a numbers matching car? 🤔 normally these might be worth 70 to 100k, I can't imagine why this would be a million dollar car!

It's a Z06 tanker. One of 50 or so left, and the first factory Corvette endurance racecar sold to the general public. A condition 1 Z06 tanker should be worth right around $1M in today's market, even without any racing history.
