Weight is not our friend, as we age. I went from 240, to as low as 155, before settling in at 175. Health is something you need to work at. Very glad you’re healthy Ken. Keep the videos coming 🎉
Good work on the weight loss. I hit 378 when I was competing in power lifting but as with any sport you can get injured and I did to the point no longer being able to lift. So in 8 months I have dropped 50 lbs and still working on more.
Really Glad to hear you are OK, Ken.... I applaud your dedication to the weight loss.... Atta Boy!! It will be better for your back too. Take care and be safe. Russ
While your banging away those ball joints and a arm bushings a nice 4 wheel disc brake kit sure would be a nice addition.....along with a new dual master cylinder!! 👌 Then ya got a nice turnpike cruiser! Damn.....those tires are a mess. Go for a better brand with more uv ray protection. Never had Michelins crack up in the sunlight. BF Goodrich hold up well too. Never had any luck with them thar Hankook tires. Great seat upholstery price!! Keep up the good 👍 work Ken!! Soon you will be on the road to see Mr Heavy Chevy!! Drag that International Dump home!! I wish ya would have opened the hood on that!! Had the original orange 🍊 color in the door jams too....awesome!! 👌
Hey Ken. I had a64 impala that would slide a back axel out when it felt like it. It would take the brake drum with it and the only way you were stopping was the whitewall destroying itself on the wheel house. Do the brake swap and preserve your underpants 😁
Hey! I built a dragster when I was 16! Mid to low 9 second car! Girls do that thing! And I know your back pain! I suffered from back spasms from when I was 16. Gentle exercise, and WALKING is key to getting moving again.
One thing that I added in my shop, is a 2 wheel dolly to help move things around. I wasn't sure if I would use it much, but it has come in very handy for me. I'm 64yrs old, and if I can do something easier I will try to. I do agree with you about walking, I try and go walking every day. John
I had noticed that you were losing weight too and I too was wondering how you were doing so I'm glad to see that it's coming off naturally and that you are not ill. Because I'm looking forward to possibly meeting you when you take your road trip out east anyway keep up the good videos I enjoy your Channel
Ken, you sound just like me, yellin’ at things you are workin’ on….😂🤣👍😀 I learned that from my dad, I guess, working on cars and mowers and plumbing and such. 🤔 I like that “crate engine” you got there😉 those front ball joints would put ol Vice Grip to shakin his head about drivin’ it anywhere. 😮
It’s always a shame when you gotta replace tires due to rot-not tread wear. You know what that means though; needs more burnouts! But that usually don’t happen on a nice cruiser like that! Glad you’re tackling that front end. She definitely needs it and it’s gonna be one sweet ride across the country when she’s done 😎 Keep up the great work Ken and congrats on the weight loss! 👍🏻👍🏻
Oh, that sedan delivery is gunna end up at your place Ken! 🤣 We all know it! I love the "crate engine!" That's hilarious! Glad you found an upholstery person who was reasonably priced as well. Big congratulations on the weight loss my friend! 🥳 Happy wrenching 🔧🔩
yes disco on the front sure helps a lot, it did for me on my 46, and it was way less in the long run at the end of the project. Looking good slim and trim, great advice
Well, thanks for the update on your health and weight loss. I won't pry, just glad to hear your health issue inspired you to get some weight off. I have struggled with my weight for a while now, but it's back on track again. I wish you hadn't shown that Pontiac, it's not right to tempt an old feller like that. Especially since I don't have any skills, money, or a shop to work in. It's just mean. All the best to you, it's always a treat to see your videos.
Very thankful you are doing well !! On your 63 , I would definitely get a dual master cylinder on it Ken . If one line starts leaking you would still have two wheel brakes without having to use your parking brake all the time. Just my two cents Brother . Be safe and may our Heavenly Father continue to bless you, in Jesus Name !!! Eddy
Hey Ken, looks like the Impala is well under way to getting some new suspension, i know the feeling having to through away tires that are 10 years old with like new tread, i just had to do that on the 53, and i'm afraid i will have to do the same thing on the 55 in Eastern Washington, but i know the side walls will blow, ask me how i know, glad you found a upholstery shop you like, they are hard to find, i had some work done from Johnson's in Ellensburg, they did a Tonneau cover for the Dune Buggy, nice job and reasonable, glad you are feeling good you look good, i care about you Neighbor Ken
Ken, that '63 will be much better with the disk brakes. I like the IH dump and the sedan delivery. I don't think I could pass them up, even though I'm a Model A man. Thanks for the video.
Good for you Waylon, I am 64, I've lost right at 32 lbs in the past 7 months. Slow and steady lifestyle change, not a diet. It's gotten a bit slower now since I tore the meniscus in my left knee so my walking has backed off considerable...there is a chance it'll heal up on its own...Gonna go that route before I get it cut on, last time they scoped my right one they told me I'd need new knee(s) about now. Gonna put that off a bit longer. There ain;t no reason not to puts discs on the front of that car. If someday some purist wants to put it back to "stock" it isnt like you torched the car in half, it can be put back...I'd put the discs on fer sure.
Good on you for the weight loss! I hovered around 200 lbs most of my adult life, in the last 5 years I have reduced the tonage to 145 and I feel like a kid again. Keep up the good work, I'm proud of you.
@12:20... I'm glad that spring didn't fly out! (Which is why you chained it up) 😉😉 Yessir, upgrading to a dual reservoir master cylinder and front discs is a good thing! I lost the brakes on my '66 Mustang, because it had a single reservoir master cylinder and the o-ring broke! I wrecked, sliding sideways on I-78 in Allentown, PA (October 1991). I'm glad you're healthy. I need to lose weight myself. I figure I need to lose at least 40 pounds.
Been down that "Replace everything" road a few times. Don't see as to a "Why not" with doing so. If one component is worn badly, the rest aren't to far away. They all have the same mileage on them. And as to the weight loss, I do believe I know where it is. Looking good Ken.
Don't think about it, just do it. That's what I did more than once, which is how I ended up with 7 cars at home. My neighbors loved that, but not as much as I did😁 If I lived closer, I would find it hard to resist buying the International, because I was a fan of them as a kid, and the Pontiac, well they really don't build them like that anymore. I believe I could get them to run again, even on this so-called gasoline. I also believe you're doing a good job on the Impala, but my #totallyunsolicitedadvice is that you need a support under the rearend to compensate for the loss of weight up front, and you should wear eye protection because of all the dust, dirt and corrosion you will encounter underneath. Alright, I'm getting off of my high horse now. I appreciate ya!
oh thats not a high horse..thats just a soap box lol between the engine and the rear axle..its still front heavy, you're right about the eye protection tho.. i just forget sometimes but thanks Mom haha
Well, whatever your health issue was, I am glad you're feeling better. You look great! The seat for the lil shortbox looks AWESOME now. It would appear that the rodents living in your garage stole the front end of your car!
the disk brakes on the front, I would say that is a good ideal on a car that is going to travel across country 2 times . glad you though of the spare tire.
Well I reckon you are only in it for day 3 at this point and that is taking it easy. I think you are on track to get it done in a week like I said you could. :-) I did ball joints and bushings in one evening on my 84 D350 even got it on video and that makes it take twice as long as you know! lol Your joints will for sure appreciate you not putting such a load on them.
You are looking good! If we consider your not too distance history with all the heart bypass surgery, you are doing "MIGHTY FINE", or as they say down here in Tennessee, "fine as frog's hair".
I can see you pulling into MrHevyshevy's driveway with the old Impala right now! That old International pickup is a survivor. Idid a video recently on a Pontiac sedan delivery with a flathead straight 8 that my buddy drug out of the desert. Yout don't see many of those these days.
KEN !Happy to hear your health is doing good. QUESTION ; Are the parts you are getting up to "QUALITY SNUFF" ? I have heard other "CREATORS" (UTG) mention that there is a glut of junk parts that make anyone's fixins almost worthless? I believe you use "OEM" parts, just wondering if you also are having trouble?
yep old tires are dangerous, I just pulled four BF Goodrich TA's off my 66 Chevelle and the looked great no cracks a lot of tread, the only problem they were 18 years old, so I bought a new set of Coopers, They should outlast me.....
Well I'm happy you noticed them tires was bad because it would make me sick if you was driving that beautiful Impala and the tire turned loose and damaged it
Always wanna know looking for the size of that bias tire what's the size of that tire and the measurement will be very helpful just looking for the size of the original size of that car
Had one of those bypass thingys my self. I did NOT stick with the exercise as you have, sir. After watching this vid, I am back on it. GET the Impala going if you need to hire help. Second choice is never satisfying. I know. Ben
cant hire any help. nobody will get off the couch and work now a days so all the shops are booked 7 -8 weeks out. I did drop the arms off to get the bushings pressed in but If he doesn't call pretty soon Im going to go get them and do them myself..
