Notches on the backside of bumper is a grand trick me and pops used to do that with sheetrock to bend it seamlessly when the clients requested a dome or arch.
Hello, i have a 69 g10 and im curious if the later model 71 vandura back pop out windows will fit on it. Any chance you would know or be able to find out?
I just so happen to have 4 of the later vans I even did a pop out window conversion on my gold 1981 Chevy G20 Check my other videos to watch it. And I saved the fixed glass. I just checked it by placing it up against both my 2nd gen 1967 and and 1966 first gen and from top to bottom the fit looks just right. But from side to side it is 1 3/4th inches too long. And it is also slightly concave so even if you were to cut the glass and outer perimeter frame down to fit the newly cut glass it would NOT seal up on the right and left side. But, when there is the will there is a way. If you really wanted to fit your van with pop out windows. You can likely take the seals from the later 3rd gen vans along with the stainless and cut and fit it to your original flat glass. But you would have to cut both sides of the stainless to position the pop out lever in the center. And be sure to save some of the stainless to overlap and lock it in place. Or better yet use some double sided foam tape to keep the stainless fitted tot he glass. And then there is an indentation for the inside pop out pivot latch to fit into the door that you will also have to fabricate, or cut it from the pop out donor door and weld it in place. If you do this you will likely have the ONLY first generation van in existence with rear pop out windows and will be the envy of every first and 2nd gen vanner at the van show or run! Good to know it's not an impossible task just an arduous one. Literally after I posted my comment, someone finally got back to me on the Facebook 1st and 2nd Gen forums with 3 sets of seconds gen pop outs. But if I can't find one more set to complete my 69 g10 long wheel base I might attempt to make some with the method you provided. Thanks for responding so fast!
I do still have it, but sorry I doubt I will ever sell it. I don't sell anything I like. But if you really want one take some screen shots of mine and put them on Craigs List in the auto parts section in a "Van WANTED" ad. People will call you if they want to sell one.
