And was this with 123 ignition? It is now running really well but I'm super curious to adjust it to see if the previous problem reappears. Glad that you got yours sorted
I am watching this video as I have exactly the same problem , swapped almost everything you had. I have another SVDA on order in the hope it fixes mine. Just like you I had almost given up . Fingers crossed 🤞 My new dizzy is 6months old only so had no reason to doubt it first. I noticed mine misfired and back fired a few weeks early now it lacks power and struggles to go round the block. Rpm not stable on the timing light may be another give away sign it’s the dizzy failing, wish it would just pack up as it would be easier to diagnose. Thanks for making the video , will let you know how mine goes 👍cheers a fed up 51 year old lol
Hello and thanks for your message. I hope the replacement distributor solves your problem. Its a little frustrating as I dont know exactly the reason why the 123 was misbehaving. Not sure if you watched my follow up video where its now working perfectly!!!
I had back fire issues and ended up upgrading to a performance distributor and coil and it helped tremendously! I used a magna spark 2 from CB performance.
Thanks Erick, I bought the 123 ignition distributor and upgraded coil as read good reviews. I still would like to know exactly what caused my backfire. Glad yours was improved with the magna upgrade 👌
Funny enough I have just sorted my misfire issue last Saturday. It had been driving me mad, I changed the carb twice, the leads the coil. Had it tuned up.. And it came back a week later. In the end like you it was my electronic ignition. I brought a new pertronix model, and it now runs 👌🏽👌🏽 I wish I had seen this video before hand. 😊
Glad that you got it sorted Allen. Mine actually started misfiring again last week so im going to try the original old fashioned points. Got some other things to investigate also which I think I will add to another video.
I've had this same problem when I had Kadrons on my 1776. Check you valve lash, that is what I did and that solved my problem. Try buying a degree pully and put it on your motor to properly locate top-dead-center. Good luck.
Thanks Mas, I totally agree I should change the pully and is on my parts to order list. I have checked the valves but I think I should double check. Maybe also I should give the Kadrons a rebuild at some stage. Glad you solved your problem. 👌
I have the same issue with the duel carb Solex setup same as yours, i still have the old points distributor, i will try the electronic conversion to see if it fix the issue, thx for your video
Hi...you are aware of the fact that you are having a 123 ignition with a vacuum advance but that you should use one without vacuum advance with a double carburator set up ?
Hello, thanks for your message. I think because the vacuum is more for lower rev range that it shouldn't make too much of a difference using it with my set up. It is running super now i have done some fine tuning via the app. 😁
what was the dwell reading of the points should be 50 ran 009s for 10 years and never had any problems with the 2180 1776 1600 but knew how to use a dwell meter
Hello and thank you for your comment. I was actually talking with a friend the other day and he suggested that it could be a crack in a cylinder head!! I will investigate again in the spring. Thanks for the tip and I hope yours is back on the road. Jamie
did you change the passcode ? I didn't and left a vw meet and it ran terrible. did a factory reset and it's great. ever get asked by your phone to pair with something in the vicinity?
