Beautiful car! I just purchased a 63 Corvair Monza Spyder Turbo that is slightly better than a basket case. I rebuilt the carb and turbo and am now tackling the wiring . I finally got it to crank and have headlights so I am encouraged. I can't wait until it looks as good as this Corsa!
One problem, no wastegate. ;-) Growing up, our family had a 64 Monza convertible (110 / 4sp), later on I had a 66 Corsa convertible (140 / 4sp). My Mom worked at a tire store and was given a free set of Michelin radials, it was funny seeing mechanics shake their heads when my five foot and a bit mom tried to tell them the tires weren't flat. ;-D
Nice 1965 Chevrolet Corvair Corsa Coupe ! The 1st automobile I drove was a 65 Monza 4 door 110 automatic when I was 14 & I've been in love with them since & I've owned 4 since the late 80's & still have 3 of them . The 1st was a 65 Corsa Coupe Turbo, 2nd was a 60 model 700 4 door 80 HP auto. trans.3rd was a 64 Greenbrier Deluxe 6 door 110 automatic & 4th a 67 Monza Convertible 110 automatic the only one I sold was the 60 with many regrets , But i still have the other 3 . You did forget to mention the 95 HP that was the base engine from 64 thru 69 , & on the Corsa instrument gauge they came with a trip meter as well . thanks for the video & your 65 Corsa Turbo is really nice & looks pretty original.
Beautiful car. I had a '65 red Corsa turbo 4 spd in '71. 12:23 No muffler but a 3 inch pipe out of the turbo. F70 14s on back and 6.00 13s on front. Wish I had it now.
Darrell, the '63 Stingray introduced the rear suspension design that the '65 Corvair used with coil springs versus transverse leaf on the Vette. I was raised on flathead Fords too.
Nice video and beautiful car but I have to say that Corvair engines are not certified or approved by the FAA for use in aircraft. The reader/builder therefore assumes the entire responsibility and liability for incidents of any kind involving the use of a Corvair engine they may eventually convert, build, buy, install or use in an experimental aircraft.
Idle seems a little low for an engine with over 1 hp per cubic inch. Holding the mic closer to the exhaust should offer more of the raspy purr we know and love.
The car model that went from one of the ugliest, to one of the best looking (IMO) of the era. Cool Corsa, Darrell. Your gator hide boots are bad ass too!
