1964 Ferrari 250 LM chassis 5893, the last Ferrari to win Le Mans and part of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum since 1970. I apologize for the poor audio quality...my phone was all that I had handy at the moment.
375 GTB - Well you picked them. Mine are the 250/275 LM, the 375GTB/GTB4 and the 330P4. The GTO is nice also, both of them. These are some of the "if only" cars that I, coulda, woulda, shoulda bought many years ago when I might have afforded them. I did get a cobra 427 and a 65 GT350, never did get the 289 Cobra, so all is not lost.
My dad an oldschool mechanic had this car in form of a toy and I wanted to know what to expect, Im stunned you can hear this is 100% mechanic nothing electronic, so damn aggressive I love it!
Got to see this car on the infield at Indy about 15 years ago during the FCA annual meet/F1 race weekend ... I was so moved by seeing it out there I was stopping spectators (who were more interested in the F430 latest and greatest and by the way gets it's haunches from this design ) and telling them about the outrageous historical significance of this particular car ... the curators were like " WOW ! we can see how passionate you are about this 250LM we are going to open it up for you so you can see the engine and interior better ... we wished we would have put a battery in it because we would love to start it just out of respect of your passion " 😎 that's my story with this magnificent machine .
Holy Shiite ! really !? Thats awesome ! I stood by this car at Indy during the Ferrari Club of America national meet back in 2005 and told the many F1 spectators about it as the F1 race was that weekend . It was on the infield at the time .. most people were going to see the latest model F430 at the time . I was explaining to them about how the 430's rear haunches were a tribute to the 250lm etc.. after the event the museum curators watching over it opened it up for me and said they'd wished they had put a battery in it before bringing it out so they could fire it up for me . They could see how obviously passionate I was speaking to people about this historical majestic car ! And that exhaust note is delicious and raunchy lol
@@wendsschumacher-milburn are you from south africa ? I met the guys on the infield at Indy watching over it back in 2005 I think . When FCA had their national meet up there during F1 week . I was stopping people and telling them about the outrageous pedigree of this car . Alot of people were just walking past it to go see the latest greatest F430 at the time . I was explaining that the haunches on the 430 are a tribute to this beautiful car . ; )
@@morfeophantasm7435 no, I'm not. The video is from when Canepa in Scotts Valley California had it on loan and were bringing it back to life (so to speak) for the first time in 30 + years. We were also correcting some of the graphics so it would look exactly as it had when it won Le Mans in 1965.
Listening to this after watching Chirs Harris piece on running a 250LM at Goodwood, and this car sounds completely different, as if the Cams and the exhausts are significantly different specifications. Both are great soundtracks.
The sound quality of my video is bad because it was taken on my cell phone. That being said, the car hadn't run in thirty years so we were in the midst of tuning it at that point so it was misfiring occasionally. As far as cams go I couldn't tell you what the potential difference is w/o researching a bit. The exhaust dates to at least 1970 when the car was donated to the museum at Indianapolis. I would imagine that it had been replaced at some point during the prior 5 years of its racing career though.
Ferraris fire breathing monsters like this 275 LM slayed victims at Le Mans like it was the Coliseum. Fords priceless victory over the giants of Le Mans in1966 after many defeats wouldn’t have meant much were it not for Ferrari’s legendary glory trail in 50s and 60s.
I couldn't be an race driver on the speedway after my open surgery ❤️❤️ 1959 I am a live after 62 ago and I love nascar race cars from Daytona 500 me I needed keep me away
Nice! Masten Gregory's car lives. Too bad the camera operator clipped the top of the car in most of the otherwise graceful shot. Its not even French asphalt!
James Chressanthis that happened like 2x...I was actually very steady w/my phone compared to the vast majority of camera vids out there. Glad you enjoyed it otherwise...
Sam is still with us... 193 mph in the fog, driving by the tops of the telephone polls... 1969... The old girl still had what it takes! Still does on the REAL MULSANNE Not this truncated one, for PUSSIES! For Gentleman, pay for drive, "drivers" J.C.
The really mind-boggling things about the 250LM...last private entered car to win at LeMans.....there are actually different kinds of LM....there's a "street" version (Stradale) with electric windows and (gasp) air conditioning....there is also one LM that's right had drive/right hand shift.
Can't believe Ferrari hasn't gotten this car back. W it being their last LeMan's winner, you'd think Ferrari would show up w a few pallets of 100's n make a deal
@@wendsschumacher-milburn & The Kremer Porsche 935 that won LeMan's as well. But Penske now owns the track, and I'm guessing the museum. So we will see
@@wendsschumacher-milburn From what I have read, a few years ago, they also sold a Maserati 8CL that raced at Indy postwar until 1953, the car is now owned by a German collector, who races it in historic events!
5893 Spitting, coughing and farting! Beautiful, just beautiful Sebring '64 thru the 1969 season.. Evergreen... Like David Pipers FORZA FERRARI TOO many years! Time to return to Le Mans Teach them ALL a lesson... J.C.
See almost ever year, thru 1969... But not '68... Ferrari insisted on boycotting the season. NART had to comply A 250LM from Ecuador DID race! 8th OA Daytona 24, 1968.. I helped tune it in an Avon Pk. gas station WEBERS! On Charlie Kolbs suggestion... The guys had lost Raceco Miami's help... To Auto Delta... the new Tipo-33s.... Fausto and his brother, had previously run a Camaro in S. American races. They had excellent STEAKS! Corn Beer! All on dry ice! But they burned up their brakes.... Solid disks... And had transaxle ills.. Car went to the King of Sweden.. J.C.
