I never had the pleasure of riding in one of these beautiful limousines, but when I was very young, my grandfather, and an aunt had these special cars. I was always fascinated by the rear doors, and always loved climbing into the back seat and pulling the door closed. I remember once my parents borrowed my aunts black Lincoln to use for a night on the town for their anniversary. My mom was a nervous wreck driving the car back to our house from my grandmothers. The car was so big, she didn’t want to try maneuvering it up the driveway to our back yard, so she left it parked close to the sidewalk until my father came home from work. I loved those cars so much, I even still have my aqua colored matchbox version. Later on in the 70’s my aunt had an orange Town Car. It just wasn’t the same.

The late actors Steve McQueen and Robert Vaughn owned a 1965 limousine. Also, Ronald Reagan used a 1965 when he was California governor. A similar black 1964 limousine was used in the James Bond film "Thunderball". Lehman is pronounced LAY man and not LEE man.

Now this is fancy on a modern day James bond villain type of level.

A vehicle like this one actually appeared in the opening sequence of Thunderball back in 1965

This model was featured in several of the very late 60’s / early 70’s Colombo episodes. Even in an 1978 Colombo episode it still commanded attention and stood above the other cars. (“Make me the perfect murder” 1978)

Beautiful car, I own a 1967 Lehmann-Peterson. My only comment is that the rear bar and the sound system are not original.

these were always beautiful limo's, they way they should look. I remember ( I was a kid) but California state, bought a used 1965 Lincoln Limo ( had been J Edgar Hoovers, he got a new one in 1967 or 68) and they got it used for Ronald Reagan to ride in, shortly after he was elected and sold the factory 1966 State Cadillac Limo to a local Funeral home. I'm positive the 65 Lincoln they bought was a Lehmann-Peterson. I think they sold it after Jerry Brown was elected end of 1974

We are told this was used by Reagan at one time but we are unable to confirm the story

I live near Sacramento, and it looks like the one he used to ride in, saw pictures in the paper back then, I was a young teen, but a car nut so I remember this. His car had been J Edgar Hoovers, so seems like it might have been a bit armoured but I never heard one way or the other on that. They were not as security minded then so maybe not. There couldn't be too many 1965 Lincoln Limos built by this Coach builder. The State of California sold it in the mid 70's. Jerry Brown made his " blue Plymouth" a big PR campaign and didn't need this limo

Yup absolutely right. Jerry did not like black, prison gray, county orange. Jerry-Moon Beam's favorite color was yellow and it's still yellow to this day. Someone did his homework. Viva la Cali-co!

I'm obviously commenting long after others viewed this video. But, I just wanted to add that I had a neighbor in central Phoenix, AZ circa 1982 who had a limo service. He had a black 1965 L-P Lincoln limo which he stated had been used by Ronald Regan. I have no knowledge of that car since that time, however.

Did they always put cloth/ velour in the rear seats or was that done at a later time?
@merc1110

See my above comment for clarification. The upholstery was fashioned out of old dirty diapers.
@johntapp1650
@johntapp1650 4 года назад
All kidding aside, true limousines have always been fashioned with velour in the back and leather in the front. They never described nor mentioned there is a divider window between the chauffeur and the chauffeured compartments. This is raised or lowered at the discretion of the chauffeured.

@@johntapp1650 I had 3 LP Limo's over the years. One was white with red leather in rear, blue mouton carpet. It was a "government car" and since the government took all the paperwork from LP, it was hard to see who it was purchased for and the LP expert told me it was one of the "missing" LP's and it was probably the Post Master General's car. LBJ also had one in Texas. I had a black '66 with black leather in the rear. According to the brochures, you could order just about anything you wanted. In 1966 they offered "photochromic" glass on the rear doors and long extension windows. It was billed as the ONLY car to be allowed to have the "self darkening" windows (the laws at that time were a lot stricter than now) and I believe only 2 were ordered with that option. The rear A/C's were a joke, especially in hot areas. Also, the OPTIONAL divider window slid to the side, and was available in either manual or "power operated"/ All of mine had the power window option. One had the "car caller" which was a small device the size of a cigarette pack that the owner could press a button and the driver would receive the signal and go to pick up the owner. Also, one had the intercom system through which the rear passenger could communicate with the driver without shouting. Great cars, but sorry to say mine were pretty much basket cases when I got them. But they DID draw a lot of attention.

Ok MoHammer, we don't say Mohammad in USA any more. The cost for a flying POS is three goats, two camels, four Ford Pintos, One Chevy Vega, one big stack of American three dollar bills, one slip n' slide, a buy-one-get-one-free coupon to the Mustang Ranch weekday special, and...wait for it... one years season tickets to the Jeff Dunham Theater (matinee only). Betcha wanna Keeel me right now? Yup you do! I'll go now.

Alex, Alex, Alex. Why would you ask such a thing? A great car??? WTF Alex! A great big POS you mean?! Are there more at home like you, or are you just the exception? OK listen don't get mad Alex. Look up two slots. Alex I said slots. Mohammad Yusuf just purchased the last one of these four-wheeled abortions in existence. You'll have to contact him if he's not at the Jeff Dunham Theater right now. Yousuf just loves it when Achmed says "I'll Keeel you!!! Really he does think it's funny, just ask him! Alex, pay attention. All great cars have names which end in a vowel. Lamborghini, Ferrari, Maserati. Got that? World's most expensive car, a Ferrari. 35 Million at auction. Now that's a great car!!! Not this four wheeled abortion.
