This is an Awesome 1966 Harley-Davidson Electraglide. Original Paint Survivor with Documented History in Alaska. Alaska Rail Road Motorcycle Parking sticker, maintenance records from Anchorage going back to 1989, a couple ARR items retrieved from the saddlebags and an Awesome surprise inside one of the saddle bag lids. Super cool bike with great history, and Fun to ride. This Bike was used in a previous video I put up. But I figured I'd add this so people may reference the details of originality without all my other content.

Engine has been out of bike. Stock lower cylinders were silver until 1972. I have a 66FL, 67FLH and 72FLH..GREAT looking motorcycle regardless..

Interesting. That might suggest that the engine has been rebuilt. Likely prior to 1989 considering I have service records going back to 1989. Thank you for your insight.

@@thehowardgarage Definitely has. Guys painted them black for mainly 2 reasons...cost and heat...cooling engine faster..

I have owned (13 ) H-D’s and ALWAYS wondered “ why “ the fuel petcock is on the left side and that they ran the fuel line in between the cylinders pre heating the gas in the process . I was pleasantly surprised to see this model with a fuel petcock on the right side fuel tank …

Yea, They tried the petcock on the right side for 1966 only. They found it was a problem because if you parked the bike on the kickstand with the fuel very low. All the fuel would shift to the Left tank and not be immediately available for starting. But, yeah, running the line from the left to the carburetor on the right would heat up the fuel. But I guess it's the lessor of the evils. LOL

@@thehowardgarage I’m sure I’ll get criticized by someone … I actually would buy like 2-3 feet of fuel line from an auto parts store ; I would come off of the petcock and after 1” I’d install a glass fuel filter . THEN I’d run the fuel line down the left side and around my oil tank to the carburetor . I never ran the fuel line between the cylinders again . In the southern part of the US , the temps outside get triple digits in the summer months ; and the fuel would dry out and crack the fuel lines between the cylinders with scalding heat rolling off from the front cylinder . Once I ran a clear line and would “ see “ the gasoline actually boiling ! I actually got ( a few ) complements from men who did their own mechanic work and liked what I did . Everyone said that they had never seen what I had done before . I thought that I’d share . Beautiful bike you have ! I was blown away by its original paint and overall well kept condition ! Peace ☮️

Beautiful bike man. I wish I could find one in that good of shape. A buddy of mine had an all original 66 with the sidecar. Engine blew and cracked the case. He took the cracked case to a guy that supposedly "fixes cases properly", and the guy completely destroyed it. To the point it was beyond repair. Ruined the value of the bike

Thanks Bro, Yea, There are pros and cons to having the sole location of the vin on the engine case. Pros, you can put the engine in any modified frame you want and maintain a good vin and title. One of the Cons, if you destroy the left engine case, you lost the vin and proper titling ability.

Well, It's on Ebay right now. The auction ends Sunday 6/23/24 at about 7pm. So we'll see what happens in the auction. But regardless, the generator shovelheads will only be appreciating in the next few years.

Original paint wouldn't have a black front fender!

It's undoubtably original paint! If you feel different maybe you should shed some light on what color you think the front fender should be. Cuz it sounds like your suggesting HD didn't produce a bike in the color of black. LOL
