On "My Car Story" we're at the Carlisle Events in Carlisle PA on 7-8-21.
We're looking at a 1966 Plymouth Satellite in Black Paint. The car comes with the factory 426 CI V8 Hemi engine producing 425 HP, with a 4 speed manual transmission.
The car's Owner is Judy Holman. Judy’s had this car since 2011. She shares she had to wait 20 years for the Care Taker to sell her the car. Minor restoration have put this car back to showroom new condition.

Gorgeous car !!!! Well worth the wait. My favorite body style of 60s muscle car is the 66-67 Plymouth Bel/Sat. Black , 4 speed and Hemi is top of the pecking order. I could never decide if I liked the single headlights of the 66 or the dual of the 67 better. When I was a kid Richard Petty ruled NASCAR . When I think of the King I picture of him tearing up the the tracks in his 67 Plymouth.

Beautiful Lou, THANK YOU!!! :-) I had the opportunity as a 7 year old to go for a test drive in the Spring of 1966, with my father and his Chrysler-Plymouth salesman buddy, in a twin to this car. Only difference was blue interior. And I distinctly remember it had a small emblem on the front fenders that said "HP2", but no 426 Hemi emblem as on this car. Did I forget or was that some sort of variation? All I know is I was mesmerized by the sound and push back in to the rear seat when dad punched it in second gear....55 years later and it is still crisp in my mind.....Wish dad would of bought it to replace his '62 Valiant wagon with a 170....Wonderful to see this original survivor :-)

I found this in a forum!! "Moreover, except for its telltale lope, there were no billboard letters or plates denoting the 426 iron lung, only a set of badges lettered HP2, which stood for Hemi-Powered Plymouth (based on decals released during 1965). If your Hemi Plymouth was built before January 1, 1966, the HP2 emblems were on the front fenders; if your car was built after January 1, you got the new 426 Hemi badges that went on both Dodge and Plymouth machines."

Good score Judy, and good story Lou! I like the black color on this one. When I was about 16, back in 1977, my buddy Max took me to his uncle's house in the next neighborhood. Parked on the side out of sight was a factory original 1966 Satellite 426 Hemi 4-speed like this one, but it was white. He said his uncle parked it because it burned up the rear tires too fast. Max was lobbying hard for his uncle to sell it to him. I don't know if he ever got it. But I will never forget lifting the hood and gazing at that gigantic air cleaner on top of the massive Hemi. Stuff of dreams for a 16 year-old kid.

Can we take a moment to admire the styling of this car? Great lines, strong but simple, no fussy extraneous or fake vents or anything, no giant bird painted on the hood. A relative of ours had a '67 Satellite with a 318 V8. That car was blue and had the upgraded interior. Honestly those Hemi's could laid a patch of rubber from here to eternity. However they were not well suited for driving on the street. The idle was ROUGH and they often stalled. A modern Edlebrock carb & intake and a modern electronic ignition will solve those issues... Here is a little trivia for you . If your Hemi Plymouth was built before January 1, 1966 it came with special emblems HP2 instead of the 426 Hemi emblems. After Jan 1st they all came with the 426 emblems They are super rare and I believe only like 50 or less of the Hemi cars came factory with the HP2 emblems. I have only seen one HP2 car ( in person ) and it was many years ago at a Mopar show here in Virginia.

It’s a beautiful car, I love red interiors on black cars. I see from the comments that the Blue Streak story has been largely told, but I can add that the B body tires were true 4 ply carcasses and were rated for about 4 psi greater inflation pressures. I’m going to be a lonely voice in the wilderness when I say that the 426 Hemi decal on the air cleaner dome doesn’t belong on 66 cars, they never had them, they’ve all been added at a later date. I’m guilty myself, I added it to my car about 40 years ago, I thought it was missing. The only sticker that belongs on a 66, is the do not wash decal. So, if you ever see a 66 that doesn’t have a Hemi decal, it isn’t missing, it’s correct!

Goodday Lou, What a fantastic interview with Judy, she stole your thunder. Before you can say, " The right amount of pedals " her reply was awesome, just laughed my arse off, when you asked her people's reaction. That Plymouth, all I can think off was the song of George Thuregood " Bad to the Bone " & that other song " Black Betty " I think from Ram Jam. That Black Beauty is in great caretakers hands, so hapoy for Judy to get her dream car after 20 years, she thoroughly deserves it. Lou maybe a few special episodes with woman muscle car owners, that was so mich fun that interview, made me laugh so hard. What a great sport Judy is. Awesome interview. Your number 1 Fan in Australia Louis Kats from Melbourne Australia ☺ 👍 ❤

It sits there like a silent reminder of how far we've slipped. So many things nowadays literally apologize for their own existence. The cars, the music, etc. This car does none of that. Ted Nugent would approve, not only of the car but what she said: "With a car like this, you don't need drugs." That is the essence of who we were and what we used to be. I need to go and jump up and down and holler. Please don't tell me to calm down. I don't want to calm down. I'm having a primal scream moment. If you don't like it, Take a Midol.

@@loucostabile These cars rattle me all the way down to my DNA. When I was about 13, my buddy's older brother came home from Vietnam, and he took his GI loan and paid cash for an orange '69 Hemi Roadrunner. All he did was tune that car and race people for titles. Ronnie was fearless, and he was a kind of folk hero to us kids. He had a righteous hot rod, he'd been in the war, and he always had plenty of sharp looking ladies nearby. What's not to like? (I think they call that "toxic masculinity" nowadays) They used to race on the access road out behind the airport. This was 1973, and a lot of the old gladiator mentality was still left over from the 50's, at least in the south. Those guys were pretty hard core and it was serious business. But Ronnie let us kids tag along with him twice, and I think that was where the Mopar bug bit me. Once you ride in a Hemi car, and you feel the G force pin you back in the seat, it's instant respect, and it's also something you never forget. Man, I feel so blessed just to have at least been around for even that little bit of those times!!!!!

Hi Lou! How are you doing? Thank you for the great video! And the owner Judy is an outstanding storyteller! She is very passionate about her car. I only didn't get why she so badly wanted especially this car? Just curious. This car has a beautiful interior, and for a lady's this is very important. :) And here we go, now we have Judy's car therapy. If someone wants to do the drugs all they have to do is to buy a nice car like Judy's car. And get addicted to driving the car instead! Cool! :)
