Here's my 1966 Silvertone 1482 amp, made by Danelectro in the USA.
I demo's this using a Telecaster with Don Mare pickups.
There are three parts... a cleanish tone showing off the nice clarity this amp has at lower volumes, then some tremolo bits, then some rockin' overdrive. All using just the amp itself, no effects pedals.
The audio was recorded separately with a better microphone, then added to the video (this explains why you don't see me adjusting the controls).
Thanks for watching.

My first good amp as a 14 year-old. The reverb came from whatever room you were playing in. This was followed by an Ampeg Gemini II / !!!###

When I was young and starting out I thought it was normal for an "electric" guitar to give you a tingle. Of course my generation tested batteries with our tongues. Ahhhh, the good 'ole days... No cellphones, internet, home computers, cd's, cable or satellite tv and certainly no grounded plugs.

Looks like 2 12AX7, 2 6v6GT, 1 6AU6, 1 6X4. This thing is shockingly good. I mean, it sounds great and shocks the shit out of me. I'm scared to play through it until I get a grounded power cord installed.

I bought Sovtek tubes because all the tubes were missing when I got it. It is a really great sounding amp, but yeah, I would get a grounded one if I had the chance. And I read somewhere that the original tubes were RCA.

A classic "jimmy page studio" set up. Telecaster and a cranked combo

@Taygoo15 The triangle shape behind the grillcloth on some 1482 amps is just the cutout in the speaker baffle. The speaker is a round 12" driver. Hope that helps.

I am selling one like this just because it has too much volume. It rattles the neighbors windows bad. Sounds good to me though even though everyone else complains about the volume. Bad ass head unit no doubt!

hi @OttarBerg, it's a S-Telly neck pickup and either a 0038 Broadcaster bridge or his Tweed Monster (I honestly can't remember at this point). Both great bridge pickups but the 0038 has a thicker midrange, while the TM is more traditional sounding with fuller frequency response. Hope that helps!

@Taygoo15 If I remember correctly, the tone on the amp was set to maximum.

It would go to about 15w because of the tubes it uses, but they're running at 275v on the Silvertone, when the usual is 350v as seen in the Fender 5E3 Deluxe, for example. Because of that, the Silvertone doesn't go much over 12w.

The cabinet is not solid wood, more of a pressed fiberboard type of material... so you wouldn't want to sit on it. But it's lasted this long. It's not as loud as a tweed deluxe though, so it depends how much volume you need.

Any idea how loud the volume was when you went into overdrive? I have one too and love it but when volume is 9 o' clock or over the sound cuts out sometimes. Even at 6 o' clock it still rarely cuts out a bit. Anything lower and it's fine though.

Do you know the brands of those tubes perhaps? And that's pretty scary haha the ones I've been looking at online have a grounded cord.

Which channel has more gain, the instrument channel or the mic channel?
@johnnycampbell3281
@johnnycampbell3281 5 лет назад
Neither is more powerful, they just go through different tubes and pre-input (tone) circuity. The circuit is impedance-matched to the input device. Single, vintage pickups will match the mike channel best. Modern humbuckers (or anything with a pedal) will work best with the instrument channel. When a magnetic input is matched to the correct impedance in the input circuit, the full frequency spectrum is absorbed more efficiently and thus sounds richer. An overloaded impedance sounds distorted, in varying ways depending on the strength of the signal.
