In 1966, hundreds of Texan agricultural workers initiated a strike in Starr County in response to plummeting wages and deteriorating working conditions. The strikers collaborated with the National Farm Workers Association to organize a march from South Texas to Austin to protest at the State Capitol. Participants in the strike and march bring this little-known story of civil rights activism in Texas to life. This video was produced for our heritage travel app, Texas Time Travel Tours. The mobile app features statewide thematic tours focusing on a variety of time periods and cultures in Texas history. View the mobile tours or download the app at texastimetravel....
