I fully realize this is not Steve Magnante’s role at High Octane Classics….but….can you imagine a customer walking up to him and saying, “Can you tell me a little about this car?” That person would get a lesson. Thanks for much for sharing, great car!

What a beauty. The 67 imo is the best overall looking Mustang. When Ford did the redesign, they really honed this machine to oerfection. The way that fastback roof blends into the rear deck is killer.

Yes, 1967 with the win for the win: 7 for 1967 model year, T for Metuchen, New Jersey assembly, 02 for fastback, C for 289 V8 with two barrel, and the rest is the production sequence. The Metuchen plant was also known as Edison assembly and closed in 2004.

Dad had bought a 67 fastback in the late 80s to restore, but it was totaled out parked on the street by a local drunk driver. He had a done 70 grande before that which he sold for reasons. The 67 was a straight no rust example with a 289 and four speed. Had it survived I probably would’ve cloned it look like the bullit car. He did get a 69 fastback as a retirement project off the original owner which I’m currently finishing up in his memory. Love the one in the video and I actually prefer the 67/68 model years.

This is my favorite mustang body style! My aunt Marie showed up with her date one night in a brand new one of these, they called the exterior color, midnight blue , which was so dark, it looked black, unless the light hit it a certain way! It had a red interior which, even as a child, I thought was weird with the blue exterior! I remember the fold down back seat! They said it had a 390 4spd, it also had a white stripe on the bottom side of the car that said GT! My Dad was standing behind me while we were looking at it! He told me to not even breathe on that car!😂 That guy must have not been the one for Aunt Marie,because I never saw him or that car again! My Dad also told me a story ,about my uncle having one of these, but I think his was a 1965 or 66 so a little different body style but he called it a 2+2 when he told me the story! I don’t remember ever seeing the car though, it was right about the time my parents split up, so things were not like they were before, when we would have seen my uncle more regularly! Anyway, Dad said that it had the high performance, 289, 4spd ,that had been given a similar treatment to what they were doing to the Ken Miles driven mustangs of the time! My uncle was a very good mechanic, with access to a machine shop, so I don’t doubt the story! They had just closed the Bar, where my father was working a second Job as a bouncer after, he and my mother split up,apparently! Dad had pulled out first ahead of my uncle, and was driving along at a nice leisurely pace, when, all of a sudden he looked in his mirror, and my crazy uncle went by so fast it literally almost blew dad off the road!😂 Dad said, that my uncle must have been going at least 140 Mph ! They were both still in their twenties ,so yeah ,they were a little wild! I think my uncle got rid of that car, because he had a young wife and son, and he had to settle down! But, he knew how to get horse power out of anything! The were like two Vikings when they were young!

Steve, my favorite Mustangs were the '68/"69 Larry Shinoda Mach Ones. My uncle around '70 had a Tasca Ediition 428-SCJ that had fiberglass body panels, rear window louvers, four-speed etc. I was ten years old at the time, so I'm unsure if it was a '69 or '70. I've always wondered if yoy had any detailed info on these cars. Not to belabor the story, but when I was twelve, my father had to go rescue him outta' bar in Westerly Ri. He brings him back to our house and he digs out the title & registration to the Mach 1 and says "here nephew, it's yours now". My mom went mental, and I'm like "no it's ok". Sorry to bore everyone, but if anyone has any info I'd surely appreciate it.🏁

Yup. A lot these 'restored' cars with shiny paint and chrome have SERIOUS defects, both structural and mechanical. Go have a look at Uncle Tony's Garage for examples. Mustang coupes made into convertibles by some hack who didn't bother to add any of the convertible bracing that the factory welded in so the cars don't twist up like pretzels when they drive over some train tracks. Cars that are more Bondo than steel. A Mercury Cougar from this era that had floors made up of Bondo and chicken wire. On and on it goes. This car has some seriously funky panel gaps. Accident repair? Extensive rust repair? Both?

Not to be a wet blanket, but is no one going to mention the fact that is clearly a '68 grill on there? Five key items separated the 67 from the 68, visually. 1. Finned side scoops(67) vs chrome trim only(68) 2. '68 had side blinkers/markers in front and rear on side of fenders and quarter panels. (safer, yes, but ugly) 3. '67 had 3 spoke steering wheel vs. (IMHO) ugly 2-spoke in the 68., 4. Side name badge changed to script from block letters in 68. 5. And lastly....67 has DEEP pony in the grille with side wings. Outside of the fact that '68 came with 3-point harness seatbelts and the engines finally had matching VIN stamps, the '67 was far superior in looks. '68 removed most of the individual features that made the 67 unique to look at just to save a couple bucks cause Chevy and Mopar started releasing competition and they wanted to keep pricing down. = (

"People call then 1965 Mustangs." Yeah 'people' may call them that, but Ford Motor Co. designated all of the Mustangs manufactured prior to 01/01/1965 as 1965 models. There is no such thing as a 64 1/2 Mustang. There are Mustangs with early features...170 cube I6 engines, 260 cube V8 small blocks, generators (instead of alternators), Falcon instrument clusters, etc, etc, but they were all 1965 model year cars.

Nice car, but unfortunately it's a Frankenstein car. 68 mustang front,, 68 rear trim, on a 67 car. Surprised this guy didn't notice it.....stripper model, no power brakes, no power steering, no factory AC...I have a 68 stang I bought in 1977. Has all the above mentioned items, 289, in beautiful condition, on the road.😊
