Got my '68 in '87 as a winter beater. $175. My '66 Nova was in a barn for winter storage. Buick was dented, sagging, & torn, but that 430 had 360 hp & 465 ft lbs! Fun as can be.
Classic cars deserve classic music! It takes you back in time! The best of both worlds! But I can't place that second song, it's been so long since i've heard it!
She needs to be restore and then you will have a real beauty in your hands. Sounds like when you 1st turned on the radio you could hear the engine noise through the radio, that's usually means running non Resistor spark plugs . Make sure you have Resistor Spark plugs.
I hope you have painted/ restored this beautiful Rivera! I hope you gave it it’s original color, as it appears to bel a greenish/golden color. The seats need great attention, not sure of the original color/fabric or leather, but please keep it as original as possible😀
You have one sweet car there, I am really big on patina , this car looks awesome with the patina, But I feel that this sweet old lady should be turned into a movie star, shine that body to its high shine luster thats what she deserves.
I have a 69 buick riviera that i got in a trade a couple years back , these things are road monsters but restomods are can take a while. Yours looks great definintly a head turner
Question...how did you know where to find that awesome beauty? Who alerted you to it's existence? I see the seats have been covered. Is the original upholstery underneath? That material was not stock in that car new.Your odometer shows less than 2000 miles...do you think that accurate? That body style...one of the most beautiful Buicks ever.
I LOVE these old American cars from the late 60's, to me they have a kind of futuristiclook to them. Back in the late 70's I saw quite a few of these old American beautieshere in the UK, even though they were never officially imported. I saw a beautifulmetallic turquoise coloured Riviera of this vintage, and stood looking in amazementat the car. It certainly had the WOW Factor. Other cars I've seen back then were theOlds Toronado, Pontiac Firebird T/A's, various Mustangs and Corvettes, and variousother cars. I have many photo's from US classic car shows, and really love the lookof these old vehicles. Your Riviera is well worth renovating, and preserving.
After viewing the video in its entirety, I only wish that you had not spent somuch time on the inside (Surely those seats could not have had the originalfabric) I would have preferred you spent more time showing us that reallyAwesome looking car,
@@garydunn3037 ...The seats look original to me. This is the entry level...no vinyl top. I had a 68 Skylark. Those rotary knobs were a pain in the ass.
@@normanduke8855 I still can't believe these space age looking cars were a common sight on the roads in America. My late father sold cars throughout the 60's and 70s. And I worked for him for 8 years, but we never had cars like this here in the UK. Mainly because our fuel was always so expensive for such big engines, and our roads were far too narrow for these huge cars. I just wish both GM and Ford had made some sort of scaled down versions of the cars you all had back then. Our car designs were mostly terrible.
@@garydunn3037 ...Well. Gary, I was a youngster in the 50's and those cars were far more flamboyant than the 60's cars... a sea of tail fins, like they could fly. Most of the makers actually did scale down their big cars, for instance the '60 Valiant/Lark was clearly from the pen of Vigil Exner and had many styling cues from the Imperial. Buick's Skylark looked a lot like it's big brother. Spaces in the US are vast. It is a similar distance from New York to San Fransisco as it is from the UK to Saudi Arabia.
@@normanduke8855 Yeah, I agree, those big cars from the 50's did look much more extravagant than those from the 1960's. I particularly love the style of the 59 Cadillac with its huge tail fins with bullet shaped tail lights. I used to visit Classic car shows over here, and have many photo's of those old cars. And yes you are right, America is a big place. We went to California back in the early 80's, and that state alone is around the size of Britain.
My parents had a '69. I notice 6 differences. Ignition not on column, climate control, steering wheel, fin piece on hood front, head rests, and rear reverse lights not up with the rest.
You sold the car to Germany, din't you? I'm doing some research on my Riviera. Maybe you can helb me with some more Information? Is there a way to contact you via email?
