My dad had the same car in the fastback body with the same dog dish hubcaps and ash gold that one had. It was a company car, he gave it to my grandfather in 1970. I have a picture of my mom standing with me in my car seat on the hood in Dec. ‘68.

We had a new '68 Bel Air 4 door sedan, Ermine white with blue "butt burners" (vinyl). No power steering, brakes. 2 speed power glide, no radio, your basic entry level big Chevy. The folks had it for 6 years, it was a good car. It had the 307 c.i. V8 also.

Boy, what a very nice example. Love the Impala custom roof line. I say, put the original wheel covers back on. These dog dish hub caps make it look like a Bel Air or Biscayne, even though they would come on the Impala as standard.

I would change the points distributor to HEI, and then daily drive it as-is. Very sweet ride

You could put a Pertronix electronic ignition conversion inside the original distributor and then you could not tell that it had been completely converted from points to electronic ignition!!!!!!!!!

Takes 10 minutes to swap distributor so no aftermarket crap. Gm HEI distributor is perfect.

Had this same yr color you name it. 40 yrs ago. I think I paid like 300 hundred dollars for it. Rusted pretty bad in the floors fix that. But a yr or so later the trains crossmember rusted lose and the train was laying pretty much on the ground so yeah that was the end of it. But fun while it lasted.

A safety recall installed restraining straps on the motor mounts. The original motor mounts would separate and the engine would lift off the mount when accelerating. This would cause the throttle to open wide and the car would take off. In ‘72, I was driving my fathers 68 Impala w/307 when this happened and I couldn’t stop it causing an accident. Our neighbor’s Biscayne had the same thing happen.

Replacement motor mounts interlock so. I need for straps.

Back in the day you could have taken it to Earl Sheib for a $24.95 paint job.

Wow my uncle had the same exact car. His brother in-law bought it brand new and drove it a year or two then sold to my uncle. Uncle drove that car till 1983. God only knows how many miles it has on it.

Ash gold, very common color in 1968. We had a 4 door Bellaire, same year, same 307 V8. Nice ride, had to rebuild the power glide trans for $175, but that was 1975.

Not Torsion Bars. Those are struts and it needs new bushings. Lower balll joints were good for 50,000 miles on those. Nice car but a stripper!

I cant stand that caprice style roof line. Makes a nice 2 door look like a 4 door sedan.

your lens choice distorts the shape of the car and looks terrible. learn how to show a car.
