chevy 1968 C10,355 SBC, comp cam XE-268H , 650 DP Holley , reworked heads with Ferrea stainless steel 5000 series valves, Arp bolts, flat top pistons, roller tip rockers, exhaust mufflers are the old school cherry bombs.
Don't remember the valve specs but I went as big as possible. Go find you some vortec heads. Thats the only way to go. I'm thinking of doing the same. As for as the glasspacks they are just cheap cherry bombs
This truck has highway rear end gears. So for me it's improved torque starting at about 3500 RPM and it keeps pulling to about 5200 RPM. The correct rear end gears for whatever type of driving you do are so important. But seem to be overlooked. This is my work truck and daily dri ver. My hotrod is a 1986 GMC sierra. It's on youtube somewhere. I'm doing an upgrade on the defferential now just haven't decided what gear ratio to go with.
@@anthonyvana6721 I must be doing something wrong then! I have the same set up, holley sniper EFI full kit, and I am getting 8mpg in town and maybe 10-12 on highway. Are you running a TH350 or 700R4?
@@Ahelm12 Ya know, ever since this virus crap started my milage has gotten worse. Right now its about in line with yours. So Im going to be like a lot of people and blame jt on Covid. I friend of mine ask me the other day , when was the last time you saw someone checking the fuel at one of the pumps. Here in Texas its been a long time. In the past you would see somebody ever so often doing that. And the fuel smells deferent. God only knows what we are putting in our cars and trucks. We've got a few stations now that are selling non-ethanol and im going to try a tank or two. Ethanol sucks.
@@anthonyvana6721 That has gotta be the problem for me too. I need to try non ethanol, but I cannot find 91 octane in NW Oklahoma. Maybe after I get it tuned, It will be better.
They shoulda never stop making ole trucks an cars this way we wouldn't have the problems we have with our trucks an cars today as we do it's costed me a mint to fix my 99 GMC an there's still a bug in it
Old school " glass packs" that's what we called them, Cherry Bombs. I've been wanting to put Flowmaster 40's on the truck but almost everyone said leave it alone.
Anthony Vana that's not bad I'm getting 15 highway don't know what I'm getting in the city and I've got a 600 cfm edelbrock I think it's a 355 but I would love to get 18 mpg
