Nice little hot rod. There was a Dodger dealership back in the day, Spalding Dodge I believe, that did this 440 thing to Darts. You could tell them by the "GSS" letters on the side instead of "GT" or "GTS". The "GSS" also had red trim instead of the black trim like the "GTS" and "GT" did. Needless to say they were pretty fast. Rare now.
Senior year of high school one of my friends acquired a brand new Dart Swinger with the 340 and a four speed. It was a lot of fun to zip around back in the day.
i had many Mopars i wished i never sold! One was a 68 GT Convrtable 318ci AT. daily driver that Mopar Mag wanted to do a article on it with photos and i wasnt into it what a fool but it was nice......i dropped a Blown 360ci in it and got the first Richmond Gear 5spd right after they bought out Doug Nash. it had the first 4 granny gears and th 5th was one to one. tall rarnd gars made it a fantastic freeway car and great gas mileage. drove it everywhere and extremely reliable. A blast to drive! Sold it to my brother in law since i was working overseas and it sat outside getting ruined. gave it away for $10k and he turned it into a show car! Too beautiful to drive, so he sold it to another! If you see a Hemi Orange GT Blown 360ci Conv out there with white top and interior. I purchasd it from original owner whom had it sitting around for most of its lif in a garage out in Washington State all original with th glass rear factory window and the car was all factory stock. Bronze or copper colored with the whit top and interior. Owner parked it one day due to carb problem and it sat ever since i towed it out off the dirt floor with rats living in it! Another fw mor months later the garage would of fell on it! He had a 66 chevy convertable sitting in another garage and all original owner car. Which his sister owned it. she parked it one day and years went by and the pigeons had a good inch or two droppings covered it. i can barely make out the shape! i wasnt into Chevys but what another barn find!
THIS CAR IS AMAZING, Think mr.Norme put a 383 into the dart in the first time but they called it Gts,would like to learn about matching numbers and codes
This is my favorite car, ever. I had one when I was 19. It had a straight 6 225 in it. Unfortunately I was young and stupid and didn't know what I had and I sold it to buy a fiat x19.
I had a 1973 dodge dart sport 318 with 340 heads 3 in floor miss that car had a 73 roadrunner I miss even more .I bought a 1964 dodge dart 170 225 slant 6 3 on the tree .with 42thousand miles all original going to be my youngest 1st car .he 14 1/2 now
My first job after HS was a low level mech at a Chrysler Plymouth dealership. I preped a lot of 77 - 80 cars. Those things were garbage, and very hard to prep right. Some couldn't be fit right, and a few had to go to the body shop before Bud Brown would accept them. The New Yorkers were the worst. OMG it took me several days to do a New Yorker. To make a car this nice is art if the dodge boys built it. Nice show. My Duster is not this nice. I'd want this one.
Now that you got your greasy paws all over that car. Detail it again before I pick it up. And put your paws in your pockets! Fix the glove box. THe fit looks like crap!
