1968 Ford F250 Pertronix IGNITOR Ignition Installed Replace Points on 390 FE (Part 3) 

Kind of a late comment but I guess better late than never: the module itself REALLY likes the full 12v (or around 14v when running) and since Ford engines tend to put a resistive lead/ballast resistor on the hot wire to the coil, it usually receives about 7v or 9v when running and that can burn the module up, my best advice would be to find a keyed full 12v and hook the module positive terminal to that rather than on the positive side of the coil, since that usually doesnt get full voltage

Good video. You should install the pertronix flame thrower coil so it has proper ohms or it will eventually burn up the module.

Love the truck Sir. I put a Pertronix Ignitor in My 1969 Ford Bronco It has a 351 Cleveland out of a 1970 March 1 Mustang. That way when I bought it. The Pertronix Ignitor woke the engine up like you would not believe. I hade all ways run it on pionts and I can't tell you the difference the ignitor made. It was Major.

That old 390 sounds good with a rotor button install. I ain;t laughing at you. I've done it myself.

The 360 and 300 six were the standard engine. The 390 was an option for the 68.

Question, I installed what I know is a working tachometer and having a Pertronix ignition it is not working how did you run the wires ? I also have a 1968 camper special with a 390 Thanks Chuck

Does the truck have a ballast resistor? If so I believe red wire goes to ignition

I did the Petronix distributor and coil. Now I apparently need to do “bypass the pink 6v wire on the back of the ignition switch under the dash!? Any video of how to do that ?! Also had thermactor smog controls. I removed all of it and plugged the cylinder head rail ports. Now I have a bunch of extra vacuum lines and have no idea where they go. Forums are a bunch of nonsense with opposing answers. My brake booster vacuum line is rubber to metal pipe to brass junction at back of intake and now pedal gets sucked to the floor when running. Any ideas !?
