My first car was 68 GTO Ridding my bicycle past the used car place in Garden city Mi I went in and asked the owner how much for that silver pontiac out front. I had seen it there parked in the back with no signs on it, then boom its out front, he told in a kinda mean voice. He said it 275.00 dollars. I flew home and told my mom we have to go buy this car now! We need to go get my money out of the bank, she said you better wait for your brother to come after work and look at it. I told her my brother (David who showed how to work on cars) will be be very happy with it we need to get it now. Mom and I went back to the car lot and the guy was real nice to my mom and said I told my son if he got another drag racing ticket, I would sell the the goat and he did. I was the luckiest 15 year old kid around 400cid 400 auto trans Hurst dual gate shifter Ac Car with rear window defroster and hide aways
I had a 68 GTO when I was a junior in high school I traded it for a 70 Camaro when I was a senior I worked very hard to have these cars and I was the Envy of every kid in school at that point
Great vid, I had a 70 GTO Judge Ram Air 4 in the UK,it had a fair bit of work done on it and hit 60 in 4 seconds, as a youngster working in an American spares shop I dreamed of these cars and though short lived I owned my dream car, some 30 plus later I enjoy these cars on Forza and Gran Turismo and collect models of these old Muscle cars. Great job MCCampy I 2 was a pump ⛽ jockey in the early 80s had some friends who had GTOs. Love at 1st sight and 1st Burnout lol. Was lucky enough to own a 70 Street rod and a 66 Ragtop back in the day. Cheers 🍻

1968 might be my favorite year for the GTO, but I prefer the '68-'72 A bodies as hardtops. The '64-'67s don't take near as much of a hit to their styling from the convertible top, but the '68-'72s lose their 'fastback-esque' rear roof line. The '66-'67 did lose those cool C-pillar buttresses though. I've got to admit - I can't remember ever riding in any GTO! But I've ridden in a '67 Skylark GS, I've ridden in a 1970 Cutlass Ralley, and I've ridden in at least two SS 396 Chevelles.
I am shocked. You owe it to yourself to get in one. It is a different experience than other A-bodies. They were all just different enough to be desirable.
