The Z21 bright trim appearance group, that chrome shifter, the Aztec Silver, those Rally Wheels, the semi-halo vinyl top... (First gen Monte Carlo has 3/4ths of a halo, with its windshield header also uncovered.) I think it was Yenko who added vinyl tops to several of his '69s, but he glued them drip-rail-to-drip-rail, like a '69 Firebird. That Penske Camaro shown @2:21 has had that vinyl top added, (hiding cage-surgery scars?) as evidenced by the fully covered roof and A-pillars. And check that angle at the rear bottom of the C-pillar! That's not right for a Camaro - it looks like how my old '68 Cougar was! Although that could be disguising quarter panel mods?😁 For me it's that whole '69 Camaro lineup, and perhaps the earlier ones, the C2 Vettes, the '70-'73 Trans Am, and I might even add the '76 Laguna S3, along with the '71-'72 Grand Prix and '63-'65 Riviera to those. Been getting behind on my youtube watching, but my truck is now all one color and shiny, and mechanically better than it was two months ago.

I want to say my parents hade a 66 Delta88,it had a 425 4bbl,I was 15,16,$17,went on a lot of dates in it! I loved racing it back in 71,that big Olds would squat down and nail you to the seat.In 75 I bought a 70RoadRunner 383 Magnum,I must say I don’t know if my RoadRunner could have beaten The big 66 Olds??

Too much fuel... too little fuel. Those carbs will not start working until your pushing 500cfm.... on a 302 that's got to be 5700 rpm+. Dumb selection. Dual 450s much better. You're gonna have a big time lean miss below 5000rpm and if you manage to tune it out, you will be way to fat on the top end.

Reminds me (Just looks wise) of the 1982 Cross Fire injected 305 in the Z28 & the 350 in the Anniversary 82 Corvette... They pulled hard, sounded magnificent & gave a great show with functional vacuum controlled hood scoops but unfortunately were pretty unreliable...
@musclecarcampy9922
@musclecarcampy9922 День назад
I had an ‘84 Corvette with Crossfire Injection. Went 143,000 miles and the Crossfire never gave me a moment of trouble. I think the reliability issue is more urban legend than fact.

@@musclecarcampy9922 Unfortunately, it wasn't... My parents bought the 82 Z28 & at about 32k it stated acting up badly... Almost stranded us going to a state park. It was in the Dealer service dept multiple times for the problem. I grew up in Dearborn where my best friends dad was the General manager of the dealership.He would bring Z28's & Vettes home for a period of 3k miles for demo's & I remember him stating it was a discussed problem at his national dealer-20 meetings... Luckily & unfortunately at the same time, it got stolen. My mom took the insurance check, bought an 85 carbureted Monte Carlo SS with the 305 which ran great & was just as cool in its own way. You must have been a lucky one. Many weren't...

I understand the engine rebuilders train of thought but I would have never have dropped to 9.5 compression [and it sounds like a smaller cam] on a 1 in 35 original race hemi 64 Belvedere especially with Carters. Those Carters were right at start of the Gen II Hemi show. I am not knocking anything and man I would love to have one or both!! Thanks for great video!!

I used to watch a local motorhead do burnouts in third gear with a Chevelle 427 Aluminum head 11:1 pistons. He’d smoke the whole length of the swim club parking lot we had on a dead end at the edge of town and we had lookouts at the far end to signal if the cops were coming. He’d do two or three passes and then have to go swap tires.

This set up was an option you could order in a 1969 Z/28 with two 750 cfm holly carbs. If it put out so much fuel to wash out the cylinder walls it would be to rich to run and never would have won the trans am championship like roger penske's blue 1969 Z/28 did

Nice build! Have always liked the DZ302 Z/28 Camaros. I know these cars pretty well. No way even a built DZ makes over 500 lbft torque. Guessing that engine has to have been stroked. I had a coworker back in 1973 that had one. We used to go cruise on Fridays nights together. I had a very clean ‘70 Mach 1. BTW, interesting you only mentioned the ‘68 and ‘69 Trans Am results. What happened in 1970? As a lifelong Ford fan I just had to bring that up. 😉
