Those two metal pieces you pulled out of the trunk are factory rear speaker brackets. Don't toss them as they go for as much as $100 bucks per set. 👍

This car is worth fixing up and putting back on the road. I have my late grandfather's '68 Fury VIP the same body style as your Sport Fury. It survived 13 years in a field in amazingly good condition. I got it back on the road in 2010 and have been driving it ever since. It might be worth taking the retaining ring off the ignition switch on the other Fury and swapping the '66 switch into the '68 and you already have the keys. One of the things I love about old C-bodies of this era is that they are not true unibodies, they have a bolt on stub frame and should you find it rusted out bad, but the rest of the car good, the stub frame is replaceable. If you need Fury specific parts, there's a guy in your state who goes by C Body Bob you could get parts from, but the car looks wonderfully complete. Unbroken seat backs are worth their weight in gold. I need new ones for my '68.

Nice to see a rescue. Pulled my 63 GP from a property. She was still on the trailer..where she remained for several years where a potential buyer backed out from picking her up....till I came along. Backed my trailer square to her's and pulled her right over. She began to fall through the rotted wood she was sitting on...but now she's home with me getting some overdue attention. Complete numbers matching car 389. I'd get the Fury running and safe for driving. Leave the paint the way she is....she's pretty.

i had one of these given to me spring time 1981. mine a 1967 4 door white 318 3 on the tree. the owner that gifted it to me gotter hot and popped a freeze plug, and cracked both heads and the block. i changed the oil and ran her and shut her down pulled out dip stick, and she looked like a vanilla milk shake. sold her for scrap Bastrop Texas, Bastrop County. instead of finding another 318 and swapping her out. LIVE AND LEARN!!

Got one of these used about 13 months (Dec 1970) after I got out the Army (1969) with around 32000 miles. It was gold with a vinyl top and white interior. Had center seat/arm rest with 318. in 1973 when it had around mid 90,000 miles installed a 383 and transmission from my Dad's 68 Newport after in was rear ended and totaled. Drove it till 190,000 + miles. Had to get rid of it when I put my home up for sale and it went to a local crusher. I am now 76 and love to have one again, but health will probably prevent that,

I like those fast top cars. The hub caps are pretty good, too. This car has the optional ones. The glove box lock has two fewer pins than the trunk. So chances are good of a random key working to open it. Probably easy to pick, too.
