Great AMX. I just purchased a nice 68 built AMX. I put a set of 3:94 in my BBG Javelin. The difference was unreal. I was turning 12.80's in the 1/4 with a built 343. But crusing down the highway, the motor was screamin.
3.54 will make a big difference out the hole, but it will tach out fast in 1st. A mod I was thinking of was putting a Mustang T5-Z 5 speed in my AMX. Its almost bolt in. Excellent trans, and with OD 5th. A freind just put one in his Rebel Machine. With 3:54 its taching 2K at 65 mph, and said it was great on gas also. The T5-Z trans has a 2:94 1st gear. If interested, I can give you all the parts need for the conversion.
had 69 amx 4 speed with go package,390,someone put a 290 in it,I put a warmed over 030 over 401 with a 727 torqflite,it was all stock,strips,restored,new chrome,tailight housing etc,12.70 with non drag radials though the headers and muffler's,so it was quick for a stocker looking AMX.

Herman Lewis I believe makes a kit to eliminate the trunions.I had a 69 amx ,put a 401 with 727 torqflite out of 72 matador,warmed over the motor,10 inch ATI convertor,couldn't kill it,very fast sleeper.
Nate, this ride is gonna be so awesome when you are done. I like the black on the rear wheels. gives me an idea, the car would look so great in a "Stealth" black semi-flat finish, chrome blacked out, black front wheels, a nice window tint. To me it would havw the predator look to match the performance. Ride on brother ride on!
back about 1975 we put really skinny tires on the back of my 343 amx and did burnouts in front of our house. neighbors didn't like us much after that. Those skinny tires squealed like pigs.

This poor car got hauled to BIR and pounded and survived other than the bent shift handle who got excited maby the driver thats OK every one had fun drank lots of BEERE and made it home safe!!!!! All in good fun.
Well i saw it stop, then the rear tires started spinning, and it looked to me that for a good long while the front brakes were on, which to me means that was a brake stand into a burnout, not just a burnout
2:36. Please tell me how that was a break stand and not just raw power propelling the car forward at an alarming rate WHILE smoking the tires. please do tell. The only reason your chevy truck can actually do a burnout is because its a truck, they don't weigh much in the rear. AMX's have factory traction bars and this thing still breaks loose.
