I thought you might like a look at this very nice 1969 Buick Skylark. I believe this is a Skylark that has had the ram air hood and GS Trim added, but I'm not sure. Either way, it's a great looking car. The paint is slick, the black vinyl interior looks like new, and it's riding on a nice set of aftermarket rims. It also features factory A/C that still blows cold. It's definitely a nice car for the money. I hope you find it interesting, thanks for watching!

Congrats man, that is a really great car! Nothing wrong with a 455, that's for sure.

That intake is a smogger 73 on up intake, likely a 455 with a 400 valve cover on it as they would have had to run 73 on up heads to use that intake. Check block numbers between engine and trany if you still have it... I would bet it is not a 400 block in there...

Hey Jeff! This was a VERY POPULAR STYLE for BUICK back the day and you can see why. From the 2 door post to the GS wagon and convertible. I use to think the rear bumper look bent in the center the way it caves inwards. LOL. I have to take a trip down to these places with a black check I would be a kid in a candy story for sure!

We have plenty of classic cars in this area, that's for sure. Just Country Classic Cars alone has over 500 cars for you to check out. It's plenty to keep a person busy for a while.

Great post. I remember when I was 7yrs old my father had a wine color one. She had the 400 but came with the console in the floor. Beautiful car. My favorite of all that he had. Now he's 79 and I'm 50. I have a 1967 Dodge coronet 440. Can you find one of these to do a post on? Thanks. Really enjoy your channel.

My favorite. I would take that over any Chevelle, Camaro or mustang of 1969. Had a few in the day.

I might consider Buick the king of muscle cars. They had comfort, and still outran most everything. GREAT POST!

I agree, I consider them a more upscale Chevelle. I'd sure like to have a 70 Buick GS 455 or even one like this, but with a four speed.

I had a 70 chevelle ss a 71 ss and a 67 Camaro Rs .We also toured our 56 chevy in a lot of the street nationals. I am embarrassed to say that I never gave a buick a second glance . It was taboo in our family .LOL A lot of my friends had Gran torinos and Ford pickups. I heard forever from my real farm friends the strength of the Ford trucks. We also listened to our mechanic friends curse the kingpin replacement . Somewhat off topic I believe the 82nd is back in Iraq . Also locally Barrys kids killed a Bosnian with hammers . Also they started a firefight in a local bar . Worked a super long day and beat the weather coming in . Having a beer and doing paperwork . All in all life is good . I just cant seem to get a free food card . Sorry rambling that's what happens when channels converge .BTW That is a great car and an awesome induction system .

Really love these cars,and this was a great example.but I'm curious about something...where's the background music.i haven't heard it in a few vids.and why haven't you been back to Gateway or Fastlane yet? Not trying to sound pushy or rude,just curious :-)
@RamblinAround
@RamblinAround 10 лет назад
The highway noise in the background is pretty loud When you add background music over top of it, it gets to be a little too much. This is one of the only videos without background music. It may be quiet in the others, but it's there. We've been taking a break from working with some of the dealerships for various reasons. We basically felt they weren't truly appreciating what we have done. We filmed hundreds of videos featuring their cars and their dealerships. Those videos generated many millions of views for each of them. Obviously, as a result, they received a ton of free advertising and a large number of sales. Our main focus was to keep increasing the quality of our videos over time, because we had dreams of doing something more on the level of something like Motor Trend, Drive, The Smoking Tire, etc. We thought that they would see the benefits of what we were doing and we would gain more access to the vehicles. What really happened is that they kept wanting higher and higher quality, but with no more access to the vehicles, and with no real cost to them. We would spend a few hours getting the best camera shots possible of the static vehicle, but then we would, at best, get a few minutes of test drive footage. Then, we would spend 8 or 10 hours editing together the footage trying to make something decent out of it.....only to be paid nothing for our efforts. We're thinking about switching to working more with individual car collectors, hot rod builders, etc. We also plan to start doing more project videos of our own. In the meantime, I'm back to doing the walkaround videos that this channel was originally built on. Just simple videos without all the fancy editing for now.

Nice looking car, and like you said a lot of car for the money. I agree with you, it needs a 455, and a 4 speed. I've never seen too many Stage 1's in this area, but they are nice looking cars, especially with the grill blacked out except for the center cross bar like the Chevelle SS. I realize this isn't a true GS, but the Buick GS 400 Stage 1's had a lot of competition from it's cousins, including the Pontiac GTO, Old's 442, and the Chevelle SS396. All were great looking cars. It was a great year for GM in 1969. I'm thinking Camero's and all.
@RamblinAround
@RamblinAround 10 лет назад
I agree completely, I'd be happy with any of the cars you mentioned. It was an amazing time at GM.
@papachuck63
@papachuck63 10 лет назад
In the day there wasn't any 455's when that car was built. However a 360 hp Buick 430 would work just fine and you could put the 400 valve covers back on it and nobody would ever know.
@doublel7337
@doublel7337 10 лет назад
papachuck63 I knew the 455 wasn't available till 1970. I agree the 430 would make a great engine for the 1969. You could get some serious HP out of those as well. As I stated I liked all the GM A body cars. I would have to say I believe the 1970 Chevelle SS454 with the LS6 is the ultimate Muscle Car. I drove a couple and they were awesome, except on wet roads and then they were scary.

Whitey I don't know if you have a Face Book page but if you do please check out my paint page. " facebook.com/chuckspaintwork" I have a 70 SS 454 Chevelle that I restored a few years ago.

A lot of people aren't big fans of the 400. I'm not really sure why though? I always thought they were pretty good motors.
@RamblinAround
@RamblinAround 10 лет назад
It's the 400 Chevy small block that some people don't like, but it's really a bit of an undeserved bad reputation. People believe the heads are prone to cracking, but unless you overheat the engine, it won't be a problem. The main thing is to have a correctly sized radiator and fan setup. The Buick 400 in this car is a completely different design though. With the exception of the bore size, it's basically the same as a 430 or 455 Buick.
@ParadoxdesignsOrg
@ParadoxdesignsOrg 10 лет назад
Yup. Keep em cool and they'll keep on rocking for many years. Just about the same as most motors. Good info Jeff!

My guess! You thought you knew what you where doing and attempted a burn out right from there and you under estimated the power, couldnt stop it quick enough and hit something that munched up that bumper and bezels and grill and headlite mount!! "Oh gee interesting how they sit in there at an angle"!!
