I've got a 66 Plymouth Fury 3 "2 door" in Wisconsin. 440 bored .30 over, mild cam, 3.91 gears. It's a blast to drive. Can't wait to bring it to the track in the spring. You don't see too many of them around, and even less 4 doors. Would be cool to see it on the road again.

@@RK-ey6gs Sure why not there were guys drag racing station wagons back then that did very well with them being they would hook with the extra weight over the rear axles . I was at Rock Falls raceway last fall in Eauclaire Wisconsin & there was a guy their who drove out a 68 4 dr Sattalite all original condition & interior but he pulled the 318 & did some mods with it put on some drag radials & a sure grip in it & that 4dr 318 was spanking 383 4spd Super Bees & Chargers in the dial in races where consisitncy is key . He won a trophy with it at the end of the day so he did well with it . He came out with a friend of ours who owne's a restoration shop who specializes in mostly Mopar cars but does them all & this friend of ours has a 63 Dodge 413 Max wedge super stocker that he brought out to run it a few times since he bought it not long ago after selling his 69 Hemi Road Runner & a 70 340 4spd challenger he had then buying the Dodge & did well with it considering his reaction times were a little rusty & having to dial in the rear suspension & drag radials on it running through mufflers no less . Racing isn't cheap but some find ways of being able to do it on the cheap & 4 drs can be that but the problem is after a while you always want to go quicker & faster & that's when it starts to get expensive lol . Personality I would put a mild build small block in it & use it as a parts runner and use it instead of racing it or putting it on the roof of his shop & keep the old girl alive .

@@brucebreedlove7743 I think people like us could HELP with the groundswell. It would take convincing the owner first. After all it is his/her car. And we are talking about Nick's precious time as well. The impetus for that groundswell of support would first have to come from them, and through Nick, on his channels. Me I have no spare parts to donate, so I would just pony up some dollars. And it's gonna cost some dollars shipping stuff around, and buying the bits that don't fit. I think there is already excitement in the minds of Nicks fans about the possibilities. And yes I think we could help build that groundswell of support for a cohesive project. It would be great if the border wasn't shut down. Then people could actually go lend Nick a hand. But it won't be shut forever and material goods can still be collected for the project. Lemme see if I can find a direct email for Nick and ask how the Fury owner is feeling about his car. PS I've never direct messaged anyone on youtube. So I don't know how to tell you to contact me personally. Could you edify me so I may contact you?

Nick rebuild the Furry as a shop car as it's to good to just sit out the back. That 500 sure looks in great shape for it's age Nick. Eugene sure looked after it all that time it should come up real nice once you and your team have worked the magic on it!
@shawnewaltonify
@shawnewaltonify 3 года назад
At Nick's Garage you get the best of both worlds. Nick makes sure to restore important metal pieces to brand new while ensuring that many stock parts are restored rather than replaced, and ensuring the car is just like it came from the factory. It is easy to find someone to replace stock parts with brand new one's and it is hard to find someone like Nick to have the stock parts painstakingly restored and installed just like it came from the factory. Try finding someone who knows how to oversee the assembly of each part back to factory correct, and then see if they are also willing to restore parts without replacing them.
@shawnewaltonify
@shawnewaltonify 3 года назад
At Nick's Garage a full restoration means as many 1)original parts as possible, in 2)new or rebuilt condition, and 3)factory correct. This is the Holy Grail and it is so labor intensive it is hard to find a professional willing to do it. Thank-you Nick! Hopefully, we can learn how to make our own cars factory correct when we watch you reassemble the parts for this restoration and others.

No, Nick, don't scrap the Fury. Someone out there in c-body land wants that car, needs that car and will do it justice and I'm betting they will contact you about it. This is a great example of when someone has been granted stewardship of a car with a history - and the hobby lives on when we're all the best STEWARDS we can be with the cars. We're caretakers of them and it's partially our jobs to do our best with them for those who will follow us AND to respect the history and memories of who came before us with the cars. I would find a slant six with matching transmission for installation. Upgrade the brake system and remove the seats. Install one drivers bucket seat and setup the rest of the interior with boxes of various sizes to hold a variety of parts. The trunk could remain empty for storage also. Leave the paint and racing decals, add some Nicks garage decals and a sporty name. Example, Nicks 'Parts Grabber'. This would make the car useful for getting parts, promoting the shop and provide an economical yet safe method of transporting parts or anything that is required

The charger is going to be a awesome rusty pile in a few years. It should have been dipped in e coat to protect areas that can't be reached with a spray gun. Major fail.

My brother-in-law had a two door '66 Sport Fury with a 383. A very cool car to my eyes at the time. Even though this Fury might not be anything really rare or special, the fact that it has survived this long and looks like it is still in pretty good shape would be a very good reason to at least put an engine and transmission back in it. Maybe a "resto-mod"? Like you say Nick, these classics have lots of character.

For a former race car, that fury is in pretty good condition. it wasnt stripped down of non essentials to the point of being rolling swiss cheese, rear doors arent welded shut

It's a four-door, and we are running out of 4-doors! People buy them for trim for the 2-doors and then junk them. See if you can clean that seat and detail the interior. Then drop in a 440 or even a nice 383, proper exhaust and intake. Put a protective mat in the trunk and use it to go get parts. Take the whole family or a group of friends out to dinner in it. It looks kind of mean yet refined at the same time. The dash is very cool.

Thanks for the video, it was great. I see a lot of comments on here about the Fury saying to restore it. To me that translates to spend 18 months and $50,000 or more on it. Too many people watching cars getting restored in a half hour on RU-vid ? The Fury is cool, but just isn't worth much, and never will be.

That 65 Fury III - reminds me of the first two cars I drove. One was a 64 Plymouth Fury with a push button automatic and a 318 under the hood, and the other was a 68 Plymouth Fury II, again with a 318 under the hood. I adored both cars, and wish they were still parked in our garage. The 68 was in great shape, but the 318 was an oil burner in that car, valve guides being the culprits. We parked it in an orchard with the idea of rebuilding it. Wasn't a great place to store it, as when we put a battery in it to start it up, squirrels had taken residence under the hood and chewed through the wiring. Started a small fire, but the harness was toast.

Hey Nick. The Fury needs some love. She wants to be fixed up. Then have a raffle to raise some money for good a charity in need. Everybody wins. Chargers body is looking great. All the best and thank you for sharing.

Nick, I hope can save the Fury and restore it as a daily driver or run-around for your workshop, it’s way too unique and nostalgic to scrap. Thanks also for the update on the Charger! Love this show! Regards from Downunder. 👍🏼 🇦🇺🇨🇦🇬🇷 🏁🚘🏁

Great Episode!!! The '69 Charger 500 is coming along nicely!!! That '65 Sport Fury is nice!!! I'd have the rear bench seats re-upholstered, and get some nice front bucket seats, get the proper column or floor shifter for it, a DUAL master cylinder, with new brake hoses and steel lines, a power brake booster, 11" drum brakes in the rear and 'C' body Discs, spindles up in front, a slightly warmed-over 383 4-bbl with power steering pump, v-twin Mopar A/C compressor with an aftermarket under dash type of A/C evap/blower unit, a power steering box, nice Torqueflite trans with a B&M shift kit, keep those wheels & tires... Burgundy metallic paint.... This would make an excellent shop parts runner and VIP transfer vehicle!!! Nick's Garage Logos tastefully done on the rear window... Decent stereo system... What better way to display the shop talent, than with a beautifully done Resto-Rod like this!?!?!?!

It should be restored to use as a Nick’s Garage parts pick up/runner, customer loaner or back to a Drag Car. I wouldn’t go any bigger than a 383 Commando, Automatic, chrome steelies, upgrade the brake system all around & use your imagination for the rest. Whatever you decide to do with the Ole Girl, it’ll be great!

I'm a big C body fan Nick. That Fury needs to go back on the road. I really want it for myself but can't take on that kind of project because of my health. A nice small block and 727 would be a fun street car. Whatever you do Nick, save that car! On the border in Detroit.

Giasou Nikola, Regarding the Fury, may I suggest making it into Indy Auto Garage courtesy car. Also it can be used to collect parts, lunch & customers. Not that you need anymore advertising for your business. You are known worldwide, loved by all your viewers who send gifts to you. That is such a beautiful feeling. Esmeralda coming along nicely too, all we are waiting for now is the snow. Take care everyone. Your number 1 Fan in Australia Louis Kats from Melbourne Australia ☺ 👍 ❤

Nick, the car is speaking to us. This a survivor of the good old days of drag racing. Bring this old warrior back. Clean up the body and interior, spot paint the rough spots and needed rust repair. Leave as much of the original DNA as possible. Get some input from Uncle Tony, maybe one of his bottle rocket small block builds? Put a modern/safe brake system with front disc brakes & maybe even rear discs. Modern tires and light weight street wheels. What would modern build of a classic engine(s) and modern transmission do for this car in a timed drag strip trial. Be really interesting if the timing slips from it's past runs could be compared to a present day build of the car, but keeping it street legal. The old "Run what ya brung" style of racing. It would be interesting!

The Charger looks great. But that Fury beautiful. Soo much character. Keep the flames do the bodywork, I agree with the shop car Idea, Keep the motor simple and mild, but it needs Nick's Garage stickers along with the other stuff, Keep the old school nostalgia. I would personally love to own an early to mid 60s Mopar, or Studebaker.

The floor pans on the 500 are amazing and dipping is THE way to go providing you has at least a semi-solid shell to start with. I vlike the idea of putting the '65 Fury III on your roof too.......as long as it doesn't scare away non-MOPAR muscle car guys who need work done.

My brother and I had one , a Fury wagon with a 318 block. Had been a car the local police drove and when they sold it the dealer couldn't move it with huge spot lights on both sides. We had fun with that one....I do recall it used to to carry our sports and ski gear year round. It took us forever to get rid of the old cigar smoke smell in it.
