@@harveyboy4461 Hi from Austin Tx, I'm also looking forward to seeing my 500 back on the road, it has been a long time since she has moved under her own power. I have been to Australia a few times, and I really liked the country and the people.
Hi Nick and George, I really enjoyed this Monday morning episode of Nick's Garage. This was a very Informative video, and you even showed me a few things that I didn't know, you are never to old to learn. Leo is very lucky to have you passing on your knowledge and experience to him, so that he will know the right way to do a job correctly the first time. I know that you will do an excellent job on my engine, and it looks amazing sitting there on the Dyno, and will look even better sitting in the engine bay of the Charger. Another fantastic video George, excellent music, content, and editing, as always. I can't be there to see the engine on the Dyno, but your videos make it seem like I'm right there with you while it is happening. Thank you George for all that you do to make Nick's Garage the best channel on RU-vid!!!
Eugene, just watch the viewer numbers soar when Nick and his crew start putting your car together! And dyno-testing? The Internet is going to be SOOO JAMMED!I! lol know that I'm sure looking forward to it!
You are the best Nick. Great idea to break in a cam with old weaker springs. A lot of people break in a new cam with high performance springs and wonder why the cam got wiped out.
I took auto mechanics for 3 years in high school and loved every minute of it, but life led me in a different direction. Now that I'm older, I would love to go back to rebuilding motors and cars in general. You keep me wanting more in life than just driving these trucks. Really enjoy the videos.
Thank you Eugene for your commitment to bringing back this fabulous piece of history. A day in the shop is a great video concept. Good job George. And remember…”The gasket makes the seal!”😎
Using air pressure to keep the valves closed while you change the valve springs brings back a lot of memories for me. I changed out a lot of worn out valve stem seals that way as a line mechanic for a Ford dealership back in the 1970s. Still have the spring tool .....somewhere...
Great look into how busy you and your shop are Nick glad you find time to make videos for us viewers. Keep up the great work and training young people on how to keep the old cars running in perfect shape. Thank You again
Greetings from California. Monday morning coffee with Nick in the dyno room....😬 Nothing gets my engine building juices flowing like watching Nick's talents put to use. I'm retired and spend my time in my engine shop, thanks again Nick for the inspiration. 😁😁
Good to see a typical day at the shop Nick. Leo is becoming a valuable part of your team mate. Have a good week.. glad you finally had a holiday Nick.😎
I'm retired. Retirement is very over rated. Happy Birthday Nick and God Bless the Child that has His Own. Like you my friend. Keep on truckin and don't ever stop. Beautiful to see you work with the next generation. What a treasure!
I agree with Eugene Castles 100%. (Hi Nick and George, I really enjoyed this Monday morning episode of Nick's Garage. Good morning Nick, George and crew great tips and tricks video thank you for all the great content have a great week, can't wait to see the Dyno numbers on Eugene's 440👍‼
Top tier tips and tricks!! dont tighten your oil pan so much that you need to hammer it back... but also, if it's not sealing, that might be why. The trick where he pressurises the cylender to replace the valve spring/guide seal makes so much sense, but its still something that is shocking in its simplicity the first time you see it. Loved the video!
Hi Nick, thanks for sharing a day in the life at Nick's Garage! Good to see Leo learning the right way thus you showing the viewers the tricks of the trade too. Eugene will be happy now his engine is almost ready too I'm sure. That 'Mach 1' looked a beaut ride. Choice music through out George.
Nice long video with a lot of variety - thanks. Leo is doing great and his Charger gets better looking every time I see it. Not much of a General Lee fan, but that black Charger is awesome. The green Challenger is also awesome. If those fender stripes on the Mustang are vinyl, I think I'd get them removed. They don't look right. Great to see Eugene's 440 on the dyno, and the black '71 getting ready to leave.
@@NicksGarage Ya I know what you mean over 40 years of long haul trucking moving oversize and heavy loads all over U.S. and Canada .11+ hours a day 365 days a year It sure makes those vacations all the more sweet .
I've noticed how classic GM, Mopar, and Ford have their own distinct sounds. The newer cars all sound alike. I hear them speeding down the road at work and ask myself what was that?? But the older cars I can distinguish more better.
That is so true! Sbc sbf, flatheads, bb, all sound different. I’m a bit more of a Ford guy but my favourite engine is still the 340. Loved them as a teenager and love them to this day
Guys, I think we can all agree that a rear differential needs a good even coat all over the gasket, both sides, to keep from leaking, maybeys there's a thicker gasket but stock gasket has never not leaked!
Happy Labor Day to all. Thank you Nick for your time and education. Never knew about the General Lee's color. Also now I know what Fred Flintstone was saying, " A Little Dab will do you ".
Giasou Nikola, What a great video, it has been a super busy week at work so finally catching up on RU-vid on Sunday evening. Greece agrees with you, beautiful Greek tan. Great teaching all the tricks to the trade to the young ones. Someone has to carry the torch forward sooner or later. We are all waiting for Eugene Charger 500 to be finally come back to life. We have all endured the journey & we are almost there. Take care lots of love from Australia. Your number 1 Fan in Australia Louis Kats from Melbourne Australia ☺ 👍 ❤
I agree,I have seen that stuff bubbled out of a pan a few times myself. And I wonder what is the purpose. It goes inside just like the outside. Nice tip, Nick.
Hi Nick .. I'm watching 👀 your video 📹 and boy you really do run around Nick.. I'm sitting on the couch this morning watching your videos from the past.. You are really something Nick.. I will let you go for now Nick and enjoy your week coming up .. I CANT WAIT TIL FRIDAY NITE LIVE to see you / Manny/ GEORGE doing his great job behind the camera .. TAKE CARE NICK FROM THE BANDIT...
Been subscribed and all notifications on for sometime now. 👍 If you don't seem to have as many subscribers as you should with this awesome channel, I wonder if RU-vid is unsubscribing people- I've heard they are known to do that and I've found ny account unsubbed from a couple favorite channels before. BTW you're looking good with that healthy tan Nick! I gotta vacation in Greece sometime! ☀️
Where’s Vascili?? I’ve been gone a while… I’ve always used the oil pan bolts dropped through the holes to align gaskets/ let the dabs of glue dry, never seen clothes pins used
LOL....Nick have you checked your blood pressure lately....Cause you my friend work very fast,awesome.....It has been my pleasure to watch you do your work.....Just another day at Nick's garage....Thanks for taking me along...! PS love these longer video's...!
Hi Nick, do you ever find more on the dyno from "indeksing " the spark plugs? Asking as a old school hotroder . I always mark my plugs with gap to the intake, don't no why but its just a habit ha ha.
Here we go It's the Nick's Garage Monday show Try to keep up with Nick his muscle car knowledge is legitimate because he knows every trick for your whip This blue Mach One looks like it goes faster than the bullets from a gun I bet the owner is well up for some drag strip fun Interesting to see on a typical day at Nick's Garage what jobs come his way That's a really nice yellow Chevrolet All it needs is a permanent flasher solution to bring the client a resolution The Oldsmobile has passed inspection now it's ready for collection The green Challenger had an oil leak not a good way to start the week The boys have removed the oil pan it might look dramatic but it's just a part of the plan The General Lee with the 383 is like a breath of fresh air to me Now the Dukes of Hazard movie I really wanna see The fuel injection needs inspection The Yenko Camaro's short block is out for balancing but not before Nick installed every bearing I'm not patient like Nick if I couldn't get the parts needed I'd be swearing Johns engine is finally in The GTX is almost ready for a spin it's a win win The heads for the 289 took their time but now Nick has them he's feeling fine Eugene's 440 is on the Dynamometer it sure is a keeper his Charger 500 will be far from a sleeper Shout out to Mark for the pizza Leo and Mark are replacing gaskets Nick is showing them the proper practice Just a few dabs of the sticky stuff don't overdo it it's more than enough Keeping everything clean so nothing will leak from the gasket seam Giving it a good hammer tap making sure the oil pan is flat There's a Hemi ready for delivery and another for assembly at Nick's Garage the metal is heavy The Jensen needs a carburettor because Nick demands perfection on this classic car there ain't no fuel injection Dan fixed the Chevelles sway bar brackets and repaired Eugenes dip stick Damn he works quick The gasket makes the seal and a car with no leaks will seal the deal Nick's Garage every Monday has got muscle car appeal!
I'm interested in how Nick does deal with a concern such as lack of torque. Are springs weak, is advance spread out to far, is carb A/F off during WOT, is 1 or 2 cylinder's not firing, compression check and leak down check, 4 bbl's not opening, looking forward to maybe one day an episode geared towards answering that question. It's hard as a customer's perception of "seat of the pants" can be difficult to iron down what they mean exactly. My thought would be does the torque curve on dyno show " dropping torque instead of a nice flat curve?" But he isn't going to pull an engine to dyno to see that, so how does mechanic handle that , maybe torque converter slipping as well. Anyway hopefully one day an episode on that would be great!
Oh man, you have probably ran into this before but I've ran into some oil pans where they used the gasket but coated both sides with what Im sure is Indian head shellac!
Awesome stuff as usual, just one observation as all you guys spend most of your days in the shop, Nick usually 6 days a week how is he so suntanned lol
I don't want to diss somebody else's car because we all like what we like, we all have budgets, and maybe they bought the car that way; but I have to say it- that fastback Mustang would look SO much better without the Ford truck wheels and incorrect/knockoff looking decals.... that's one of the very most desirable musclecar body styles ever, it deserves more appropriate wheels (oem, period correct aftermarket, or modern high end aftermarket units would alll work equally well) and either a factory correct graphics package or nothing at all. Just IMHO. Gorgeous car but those details are a little distracting. Not hating, still way nicer than anything I own!
Yeah, I am with you on the Mustang's current livery. If Nick's too busy to tackle the mechanical issues. Get him to hold your place in line and take it to the paint and body shop. In this case, more is not better.
Have to agree with you. I remember the first time I saw one back in '69 or '70. I was 10 or 11. Remember thinking "man this is a cool car" it was white with black graffic's & black interior of course.
351 Clevelands are popular in Australia and the lack of low end torque was factor with most of the high performance versions. The reason was the giant intake ports so a company here makes a thing called a tongue, which fits in the intake port to decrease the size and increase the flow at the same time. Heads and intakes are also made here for them . The cheaper idea is to stick to Mopar.
I only need this one thing repaired on my car. Then when it comes in to the shop.....Oh I have a couple of other things I need repaired also. LOL It never fails. In my state all of the vehicles get a safety inspection once a year. I always used to have several customers that would wait until the last day of the old inspection to call me up and say....I need my car inspected. The inspection runs out tomorrow. It was at least a half hour to 3/4 hour job to check everything.
Old trick my dad showed me is to use thread and tie the gasket in place. You start a few bolts then cut the thread and remove it then tighten the bolts
Dr. Nick, the logo on your next batch of shirts should say, The Gasket Makes The Seal, I would buy a few and add them to my collection of Nicks Garage tee shirts, cheers. btw where is Vassilli?.
Nick, I'm kinda a purest when comes to the 65-72 muscle car years,(born in '64, so no real surprise there) consider myself fairly versed in them. either that blue Mach I is a VERY RARE car with options just on that car...or it a modified Mach I, or a fake. The gauge package on cowl and the angled fender stripes, never seen before on a Mach I, and MACH I, was never above stripe on front fender
Great mixed bag in this one. I've watched every episode & subscribed a long time ago. I'm curious of what has happen to Vasilis? Leo is great, but there does seem to be a personality missing from Indy auto.
