Definitely a project. A labor of love for the person who takes it on. You cannot go out and buy a new one. Thanks Chris, a nice little upload. Stay safe.
I love the commenters who think 15k for that is too much, it's a freaking 69 charger, doesn't matter it's a 318 car nobody will restore it to stock. I live in PA that car would sell in less than an hour, I kid you not last summer someone posted a 69 318 car, no engine trans, glass, interior, no trunk floor even the frame rails behind the diff were gone, he wanted 10k and it sold in 30 minutes. I really hate when they say you'll never get back what you have in it. Those aren't car guys, they probably drive a beige carry, it's about passion, if a 69 charger is your dream car and that one is all you can afford to pay to start with doesn't matter the cost to have your dream, if you pick a car with the idea of resale value it's not your dream, your not really a car guy, best stick to buying Honda civics if that is your determining factor.
I'll have whatever Mike is smoking. Lots of fellows on FBBO have shopped carefully and bought very solid, running cars for $25k-$30k. Even in a world where folks think these things go for asking price on eBay (and even when they sell, they wind up returning to the auction block due to shill bidders), only someone who has failed to study the market properly would be foolish enough to get suckered into paying $15k for a rusted out, base 318 '69 Charger. By the time anyone is out of the hole with this thing, they'll be way past the expense of something already restored with a VIN and mill that has bragging rights - and that's sad, because there's nothing wrong with 318 Chargers other than the crack pipe prices thrown on them.
That's all on perspective two weeks ago I sold a manual 04 ranger with a rusty frame and holes in the bed with 180k for $5000.... When the person messaged me and didn't even want to argue about the price I kind of had one of those spit my coffee out of my mouth moments but hey I'll take his money
@@TwoDollarGararge That Ranger is an extreme sale - an outlier of actual value. Could you repeat that sale multiple times over? I doubt it. Just because one fool paid that much doesn't prove it's worth it (especially since you and I both know there are much better Rangers out there for $5k). P.S.: There's also the remote possibility of outlier sales due to proxy buyers for TV shows. I can see MT/Discovery overpaying for something random if they needed it ASAP for a shoot.
15!! That car needs EVERYTHING! Your gonna spend 50k easy to restore that car professionally-the only way it will be worth good money. Someone doing this in their garage will spend years and thousands and have a car worth 30k.
If a somewhat popular youtuber buys it he will get paid off the views so might break even or even possibly ahead after the restoration is done. Other then that thats just a crazy price
Why do we have to restore it? We are not Vin Diesel. Just patch it up and get it on it's wheels. No interior who needs it. Just get two seats. Wish I had the 15k.
318 long gone. 20 coats of paint. RT stripe. Spoiler on rear deck. No sub frame connecters. Stress cracks on door sills from revving up big block engine. Someone made a Joe Dirt hot rod out of this plain Jane 318 Charger many years ago.
Hey Chris thank you for the showing of the charger and if I had the money I would definitely buy it and pay you to fix it but that money that I have I'm trying to purchase land with it I sure wish I can do it because that is my dream car 😭
Dam 15k for that wow prices have gone up. When I found my 68 charger 3 years ago i paided 7,500 for a full complete car . 13k was for both if I wanted them. Keep checking them charger forums if u want to a good deal
I def miss the old days when Id drag home a complete, rust free, big block Charger for $500... I must be old LOL!!! Not commenting on the price- I know the Charger market is just crazy. I just wish it hadnt gotten to this. The ebay stuff is rotted junk for stupid prices!! Ive been a 2g, 68 specifically, Charger fan since before they were cool, and I hate that so many non-fans have bought them and turned them into a speculative commodity, instead of getting them because they love them!! Maybe after I build and sell my V1H Dart (1 of 25), Ill be able to afford another Charger project!!!😞
I`m old too, I bought a 1970 road runner, built 383, original air grabber that still worked, rust free, cause it was raced at drag strip every summer for $1,500.
Well that's because all those cheap ones disappeared it's just the life cycle of a car meanwhile I'm watching in despair as there is ever decreasing amounts of cheap Porsche 944s I want to get one before they're 50 grand for roller like the 911s are lol
I discovered one of these for sale in Johannesburg yesterday, almost the exact same car. 1969, 318 auto with console, no engine, no gearbox, no radiator, all the glass is intact as well as the seats. The dashboard has been ripped out, daspad cracked, door cards missing. No rust, no hit, no A/c power windows. White with a black vinyl top and a blue interior. Very sweet and extremely rare! $ 35 K
I saw one for sale at the Syracuse Nationals, a real R/T and just slightly better - it had a motor and trans - and he wanted 20K for it. It needed most of the same panels except the roof.
@@junkerup you're right but if IF!!!!! there's anybody ANYBODY!!!!! Who could do it would be you you'd be getting major hits on your channel tout it as the impossible one thats its name it's the impossible one anybody else Want to see Chris restore this car the 1970 charger r/t s/e 440x6 pack car please give this comment a thumbs up that we have total faith in Chris the charger guy send him your thumbs up tell your confident that he'll pull it off.👍p.s get a.m.d in on the build this will be epic they did the same thing on graveyard cars already to a couple of cars
What a pile ! Needs everything! And even if it’s perfectly done there’s no way you will recoup what you’re spending. If you have no interest in selling it keep asking crazy money for scrap.
in the TV show dukes of hazzard, the boys went to capitol city and bought their only charger. it was a black 1968 318 car . the next episode t was in cooter's garage and e had only orange paint. then the next episode it somehow by the miracles and majic of hollywood became an orange 1969 charger
@@bigharrykochenbauls4567 @0:21 freeze and take a good look at the front side marker light , it is round, a 1969 had rectangular turn signal side marker light .
@@winteroutside7014 fools...that's the same stunt they pulled in the movie, 'Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry', when they tried to take the high road around the cop that ended up in the drink. Now that's magic.
"I Know what i have" Haha.. I love these old sleds.. Probably one of my favorites.. I wish i could go back in the 80s and stag a ton of them up for just a few grand.. Yea the prices have really climbed over the years.. I dont feel like 15k is anyway unreasonable at all.. Its not roached.. good bones.. Ide love to have that in my garage for me and my boy to resurrect.. Unfortunately with Joe-flation im running lower on wooden nickles.. Has the potential to be a beautiful ride.. Wish it had better#s though..
@Johnny Bhang are you in an imaginary biker gang too ? Let see your muscle car I’m still waiting to see rubber duck post his you are as delusional as he is LOL
@Johnny Bhang hey Johnny I’ll bet you meet theroadhammer379 at random rest stops so you can show your love for him even more ? You don’t even have a job do you I’ll bet you play COD all day in your moms basement and comment on you tube videos don’t you ?
Who ever buys it is gonna get a Christmas card every year from AMD, come on Chris, you know the price of the metal and the labor cost to put it back together, give us your best estimate on putting it back together, and do the roof, and all the hammer dolly work, to be ready for a painter. I am curious as hell of the cost.
Chris nick at nicks garage in Quebec is restoring a 70 same color from Texas rotted badly if he can do it you can do it his charger is rotted as bad as your 70 rt se
If all the frame rails are good then this is a gift at $15 000 Just fix what needs fixing and drive it the way it is Do not take it all apart and have a 10 year project that you will forget why you started I have a 69 Charger myself that is a ratty 383 driver that is a ton of fun that I can just jump in and go no matter how grubby I am from work while I work on building a nice 440 six pack 70 Charger
people need to realize that these cars are rare now. to find an unrestored field find is vey rare. many suspect mopars are more rare than any cars of the era. keep finding them buddy.... they need to be saved.
It probably is worth a fortune. These days a friggin new pickup can easily be north of $70K. Inflation has not ignored the muscle car/classic car market. I guess a better consideration is what is money worth these days?
if you want to know how much work it would take to build that car check out rust bucket restos youtube channel he started with a car that was in just as bad a shape as this one.
If you really think about it, if you were planning on gutting everything out of it, you're basically saving yourself half of the work for the 15,000. You just don't get the old 318 to pull out and rebuild. If you needed to justify it to yourself.
People bitching about him asking 15K aren't grounded in reality. These things have taken off in the last couple of years. It doesn't make a damn that it was a 318 car, nobody would buy this car to restore it to original. This would be a killer General Lee or General Mayhem clone! Or throw a drivetrain in it, rear glass, mechanicals/brakes and go blasting around some dirt roads.
No thanks. I will keep my perfectly running and good looking 78 Z28 for way under 15k. But hey someone will buy it. Mopar guys are weird lol. Just scribble a weird number code on a part and it's worth 5k
Hi Chris, you probably wont see this but I am 15 and have wanted a patina 68 or 69 since forever. I live in north Carolina and was wondering if you know if there is any chance of finding a reasonably priced one around nc. I would be all over this one in a heart beat if it was closer and I could actually afford it cause I think it's a decent deal. Have a great day!
