Lord!!!! I can still remember seeing the 69 GP at the Pontiac dealer when the new models debuted. I loved that car then and still do to this day.

I would be experiencing severe sensory overload here. One of my favorite cars. I love all of the 4 speeds.

I was driving down Michigan ave in Dearborn and saw the new 69 on the showroom. Went in a week later and bought a J model silver paint black cloth interior. Within a year I put crome reverse rims with red line tiger paws on it. Of course I added an 8 track tape deck. In 71 some woman runs into my back end and I had it repaired. My buddy was a mechanic at Dexter Chevrolet and with a special dental pick he dropped the dash and turned my speedo back from 39500 miles to 19000. The style and speed got a lot of heads turned. Those were the days my friend. Rockin & Rolling on Telegraph Rd,

Sweet ! My very first car I ever owned was a rusted out 72 GP . I have the model year I always wanted sitting in my garage waiting for the money tree to come back to life so she can be put back together . Its a 1970 Model J . I love the lines on this car . Thanks for sharing this video you made my year ! Awesome gathering of Grand Prixs !

I believe the 69 GP was one of the first American cars to offer , at that time a very innovative option . The electric rear window grid , defroster !

I bought a new "69 "J" gold with black top. Those were pretty hot cars back then and they still look great today. A personal car with style and still affordable, perfect for a single guy.

Thanks for such a awesome video-seriously. I think I would have had to wear a diaper if I was there walking round. One thing maybe you can help me with cause it troubled me for years. I love the GP'S and the Olds-442's, SX, W-30 and so on but my dilemma is since I have owned both the GP and a 71' Olds-"S" I can't say what I like best. I love both cars but couldn't say which I like better to save my life. Anything you can say to help me decide will be appreciated---Both cars are fast and smooth.

Amazing. It makes me wonder, out of how many produced in '69/'70 how many are still registered? I bet half of them are here LOL

Ssj did not come out with a 428, ssj didn’t come out til 1970 which would have the 455, the 69 ssj intact had the 428 but there was 2 options on the 428 the 370hp or the 390hp

'69 GP facts. John Delorean's brilliant follow up to the GTO. Irvin Rybiki and Jack Humbert were the designers. Considered both 'The Modern Duesenberg'/' Smart Man's Eldorado.' Longest hood in the industry at that time. First car to offer side impact door beams, a radio antenna embedded into the windshield, and a rear defroster consisting of electric wires embedded into the rear window. If I'm not mistaken, I believe it was the first car to offer intermittent wipers too. It accelerated faster, handled better, braked more assuredly, and offered more pure performance options than the Riviera, Thunderbird, and Toronado. All with a $3,866.00 base price. It outsold all other personal luxury cars in its first year. 112,486. One is featured in the '69 movie "Doctors Wives". Dyan Cannon peels out of parking lot in one. Hot! Diana Sands is also in the movie. George Peppard had a detective series called "Bannicheck". A '69 GP is prominently shown in the episode titled "The Phoenix". Joan Van Ark plays a independent automobile designer whose life is in danger because she refused to sell her design to a manufacturer. You'll recognize the actor who is trying to kill her. He drives a red '69 GP with white top and interior. It appears to be an SJ. A new, white, '70 GP is prominently shown in the Sidney Poitier movie "Brother John". In fact its shown from the drivers perspective, inside the car, with full exterior shots during the beginning of the movie. Will Geer also appears. The setting is a small town and also features a chase scene featuring a new '70 GTO. My family had two at different times. My mother ordered a new '69 Model J and I bought a slightly used 69 Model J. Great car and thank you for posting this video. :-).

I didn't make video but did attend event. Look into joining POCI = Pontiac Oakland Club Int. or Grand Prix chapter or the 69-72 GP "yahoo" group. Also great info on"Performance years" forum. POCI has big convention every year - for 2013 = Dayton Ohio. Should be 1000 Pontiacs there this year!

Could the maker of this video please get in touch with me? I am 21 years old and at the age of 16, I inherited a 1969 model j with only 60k original miles that my grandfather bought brand new in my hometown in 1970. I began a frame-off restoration and completed it in the summer of 2011. I love these cars but unfortunately I see none at any of the local shows near me (I'm sure you understand). The opportunity to go to something like this would be great! Please could you give me more details?

@365degrees I love the Olds 442 with trumpet exhausts, esp the w-30 with red inner fenders, stripes and the force air hood. However, such an Olds is a heap of money today! The GP is way under valued and really the interior of the GP looks better with the way the dash is made and the bucket seats and console, esp if you can find one with leather interior, in dash tach, gauge pkg, wood wheel, For what's its worth-think of how much time you will spend inside driving your car.

Back in 1972, my father was in the market for a new Pontiac. I was 12 years old, and when we walked into the showroom, my Pop went right over to a brown GP. I thought it was a cool car, until I spotted a white Trans am on the other side of the room...OMG...I was in love. I dragged my Pop over to her, and got him to sit in the TA. He wasn't a flashy kind of guy, and couldn't get into all the spoilers and stripes. I ended up talking him into a Brazilian gold Firebird esprit. Ok, so we didn't get the GP but, I ended up putting a 70 GP 400 engine in the Firebird in 1977, after my Pop gave me the car in HS. I rebuilt the 400, and freshened up the turbo 400 auto trans too. The Firebird became a hot rod, with all that power from that GP engine! So in a way, I ended up with part of a GP after all : ) I love the old GP'S. ...and the TA's. Miss Pontiac !!!!!
