Yes, the Scouts (and all International vehicles) were notorious for having rust issues. Bing in the NE with the harsh winters and road salt didn't help either. Glad you were able to enjoy. I have never had a Scout II but think they are super cool.
Whoa, those body panels are perfect. The reflection doesn't lie. There had to be rust at least on the lower parts of the body panels. It is a Scout. Someone did a great job on the preparation. Then all the details are well done. I tend to prefer the Scout II, but this restoration has me liking the earlier version just as much now. It is not too often we get to see these early ones looking so good. Great job. Thanks for showing it off. You have a gem.
Hi Todd are you a mom and pop vintage vehicle restoration outfit? Where are you located? Do you restore first generation Broncos or old Toyota FJ40 land cruiser too? Love this Scout. I know a man who has two early 1960's scouts here in the Adirondacks of NY. What did this Scout go for?
Yes sir, I do some small batch restorations. More of a passion project than full time gig, but definitely keeps me occupied. I’m located in Indiana, near Indianapolis. 1st gen Broncos are fantastic and FJ40s are some of my all time favorite vintage 4x4s. Send me a not to my email, toddfpilcher@gmail.com. I might be interested in those scouts. This one sold on bring a trailer:bringatrailer.com/listing/1969-international-harvester-scout-800-20/ Send some photos of your Broncos and FJ40s too. Always love seeing others’ projects
Sweet 800, well done. Congrats on the sale. I’m working on finishing a scout II project myself and this video is confirmation for me to do things the right way and it’ll all pay off.
Hi Mike, thought I had responded to this. This Scout is not for sale, it actually just sold in September on Bring A Trailer. I will have other Scouts in the future. Feel free to reach out to me to discuss. toddfpilcher@gmail.com
