This is my crying song now. My sister is fighting a valiant battle. She was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in Jan 2020. She has lived longer than expected. But to think of losing her, I don't know how I will go on. This song helps cry out my heartbreak. Thank you Percy.
So sorry to hear this...there were 6 of us ...my parents are still living...we lost my oldest sister Nancy in May of 2001, then in February 2015 my oldest brother, William then in September 2019 , my sister, Joyce who was 1 year older than me in ....on New Years Eve 2021...we lost our baby brother ...my next to oldest sister Marilyn is still living and of course myself ....life is so unpredictable and it is so difficult to swallow when you lose your siblings and we try to get together as much as possible and thank God for EVERYDAY we have with one another... My mom would play this song and close her eyes and sing along. When I was younger I would just smile at her not understanding the feeling this song gives you. Now she's gone and I find myself doing the same with tears running down my face. Music can put you right back in a place you use to be many many years ago. 🎶❤

Percy Sledge was and still is one of my favorite singers. GOD willing, I'll be 74 years old on September 17th, 2021 and I've been sitting at the PC for hours to listen to the old songs. It's like jumping back in time to the good old days.

My father passed away 20 years ago and now my brother passed away 5 months ago and when I hear this song I think of my brother. Rest in peace DADDY and MAC

I'm 66 now, I used to listen to this song in the morning radio on my way to school in 1969. When I got my first job in 1971, I bought the 33rpm album containing this song for $2 with my first paycheck. I still keep the album, 47 years later together with many other beautiful albums I bought at the time. This is timeless music.
