This 'Cuda is amazing! The paint & Bill's restoration efforts are only rivaled by that 440 under the hood. Thanks for finding and sharing Bill & his 'Cuda with us, Lou!
Lou had a 69 340s when I was in the Navy..loved that car..sounded great..fast,,on the way back from Newport R.I. in 72 towing a u-haul trailer with all our stuff the u-haul towbar broke on the Pa. turnpike and rolled us over with my family inside..none of us were hurt very bad..we survived but the car was a total..shame...funny sidebar..it happened in Carlisle
My ex husband had one of those. He'd pick me up in that car and we'd go to the drive in when we were first dating. He had it for several years and then gave it to his sister. That car really brings back memories!!
Love the 2nd gen Barracuda fastback body style. These cars were overshadowed by the Mustangs, Camaros and Firebirds of the day, but it is equally as beautiful They don't get the attention of the 3rd gen Cudas, but it has beautiful lines and deserves more recognition. Thanks. Lou.
Lou., I have just one thing to say about this ride. CUDA! CUDA! CUDA! Okay, that was three one things but still.., CUDA! Its the Jerry lee Lewis of cars. The Before and After pics - Wow! Bill deserves a HUGE thank you for rescuing this car. Thanks, Lou for another awesome feature! Just one more thing in closing. CUDA! Did I say I like Cudas? I tend to be vague sometimes.
Thanks for sharing that Lou. That is a beautiful M code for sure. He certainly did a great job on the restoration. Those 440's really fill up that engine bay.
Wow! I've always understood that slipping a 440 in was such a tight fit that there was no room for a/c or power steering. I can live without a/c. No power steering would make a beast out of such a nose-heavy car. Talk about a wild ride! I love the color! Thanks for sharing! You've made my day.
Hi Lou! I once (and only once), drove an old Ford Falcon with no p/s and no p/b. I still don't know how I made it home without scratching or wrecking my sister's car. That was one scary ride!
A car and owner from my home state of Ohio! I saw it was purchased new in Willaughby Ohio new. That is about 45 miles from my home and I think that original dealer is still in buisness today. What a great great car and owner he was awesome too! Thanks for sharing Lou.
Lou, you cracked me up "too much power to begin with, what a wonderful problem" yeah oh gee I guess we'll just have to put the torqueflite in it to slow it down lol. What a car, what a build. Great video Lou. Got my fill of GTXs now a Fastback 440 Cuda. Thanks, Lou. It has been a great day so far.
Hi Lou, This is a fantastic car! Really got into the video too. Just want to say that I'm jealous since I also owned one back many years ago and wish I had kept it. I owned an original one from June '70 until sometime in 1979 and sold it because it was killing me at the gas pump since I only got 10 mpg and was driving it 80 mi.daily. Mine was Red with black interior. I do have a couple of items that I noted while watching the video. You may want to update the speedometer. Mine had a 150 mph one from the factory. Also, the trunk bevel was painted flat black. As for the build, my understanding was that Plymouth sent the rolling chassis with crated engine and the 727 transmission to Hurst who installed both and returned the completed car back to the factory. They only came with the 727 auto, had no power steering or brakes because of space limitations. Thanks again for fond memories and continue to enjoy.
Ive got a H car that i just found in a barn. Its even a bit more rare being that its an original 4 spd council 383 formula S "Slickback" car, straight off the fender TAG. I love this 440 'cuda trim as well. cant wait to get it back to showroom resto like this one. Great Video.
What a Beautiful Car, Love that Super Commando. It's nice to hear that he drives that beautiful machine. I remember as a kid riding my bike up to to the Mopar Dealer and playing inside of these Street Freaks. The salesmen loved me.
Oh man! Thank you so much for this video with that beauty Fish, Lou! My favourite A-body 'Cuda. I know that 340 'Cuda is more usable and has better handling. But this one is just a biggest engine pony car. I love it! One of the best videos of your channel for me.

Gotta love those wheels with the matching paint & the dog dish hubcaps ! Another gem Lou ! Thank You so much ....they made a lot more 440 Darts than the Cudas I believe....also I Googled "1974 cars with Pistol Grip shifters " and all kinds of Challengers & Chargers came up...I think I MIGHT have seen a 1975 something Chrysler with one but I cant remember
Thanks for this one Lou, I was waiting for another '69 Barracuda Fastback video from you. I have one too, but with the 4spd and a slant six. This combo actually was not available, but in the Netherlands it was where it was built.

Hi Bud Lee, Happy to read you learned something new with this video :-) I'm learning all the time from the Care Takers and I find that to be so much fun, Lou
I remember the first time I saw this style of 'Cuda in the showroom. I literally flipped out. The design was so outstanding that I couldn't believe it was an American car. Too bad I couldn't afford one.
These are some of the most beautiful cars ever made in the U.S.A. I have always thought the prettiest versions of this car were the 1967 models, the first year of the second-generation "fish" cars. The best all-around "sporty" versions used the 340 engines which appeared in 1968. The big-block engines put too much weight on the front end of an A-body. Steering the big-block cars was very serious work. I don't think the big-block cars were available with power steering or factory installed AC because the fit was so tight with big-block engines. Still, the 383 and 440 cars were wonderful growlers to be around. I love them all.
Great looking car sharp nice job on the restoration it sounds good. It looks good on brown and interior is nice too though i never realized the door open that far.
It took me over a year of subscribing to figure out that "Trunk Treats" is my favorite part of the reviews and it's your own, original tag line. It's a really cool line. (Should you copyright/trademark it?) Another great My Car Story.
Hi Rudolph Guarnacci , Glad to read you enjoy the "trunk treats" :-) I enjoy sharing them when the Care Takers have them. Thanks for the tip on the copyright / trademark idea. Now it'll be fun if I find a Trademark / Copyright Attorney when videoing I'm mention that and see if they can help, Lou
That 440 will roast those skinny little bias ply tires in no time. Nice restoration! The 67' - 69' cudas don't get enough love. I think that fastback body style rivals the Mustang design. My first car was a 71' Barracuda in that same bronze color. It was a bone stock 318 with a 3 speed manual on the floor. Should never have sold it.
Gee Lou, You are killing me, stuck here in Australia If there is a muscle I so desire are M Code Cuda's & Dart's. Please do a story on a M Code Dart. Not many of these unbelievable M Code left that is one special Cuda. Can people please Go Fund me so I can come to the states just for the muscle cars, Big Boy 4884 Steam Locomotive & the Smithsonian in Washington. I am basically appreciate so much Lou showing these wonderful dream muscle cars, & I hope to have the pleasure of meeting you too. What better way to start a Sunday morning than watching a video on a M Code 440 Barracuda well done Lou. Number 1 fan from Australia Louis Kats 👍
What a great guy, and a really cool car. Both Dodge and Plymouth had their version of the COPO cars Chevy put out. A 440 in the A-body was a boulevard brawler for sure.

Wish my A body mopar sounded that good. But my Plymouth only has a 225 slant six in it. Another great video Lou love watching your channel. How many cars usually come to the Mopar National show?
Hi PlymouthDuster 225 , Glad you enjoy the sounds of this car, and hey you still have a nice car too :-) Happy to read you're enjoying the Channel with me. Last year over 3000+ cars. Hope you can arrange to come out next year, Lou
Hi Randy, FYI - I rarely get to see the "2nd message" and this one was actually in SPAM so I had to review it. First car was a 1965 Chevy Bel Air 2 Door with a 283.
@@loucostabile I did subscribe and rang the bell. Really good content. If i may ask have you done anything for a 1967 mustang. Me and my daughter age 10. We are building her one as we speak
Nice to see what a stock one looks like. I am building a fake one but i will put in a 4 speed because that is how i like it. I also will be installing the new fuel injection 6 B.B.L. that just came out and since it is a faker i will be installing the pistol grip and call it a proto type shifter for a laugh. Very nice color but i know mine will be all black, mini tubbed with no hub caps and chrome lugs for it's finished look.
Awesome Lou《☆》My 68 Notchback Barracuda had a clock where the performance indicator is on Bills Cuda but I swapped it out with a Tach from a buddies 69 Cuda that was a race car with a 440 :*: Not sure if it was an M code car. The Tach was horrible tho because the needle didn't have any dampener. It would bounce off the high side when I stomped on it :*: Bills Cuda is immaculate & extremely rare but it's so cool that he drives & enjoys it :*: It'd be real cool to get a ride in this one. Take care Brother🤓☻🤠🚥🚥🚥😎🍂🍃🍁🌲
Hi BDOG JR, Happy to read this video brings back memories of your Notchback :-) I would have liked the "ride" video add in, however when at a car show, the review and engine start is about all I can share :-) Lou
In the spring of 1969, my close high school friend Bruce and I visited a local Plymouth dealer on a hot Saturday afternoon. It must be noted that we were dressed super casually in shorts and sandals as we had been out barhopping the night before. My friend had saved quite a bit of money from part-time employment to buy his dream car… A 1969 Plymouth barracuda… But he wanted to test drive one before plunking down the cash. We entered the Plymouth dealer show room from the hot outdoor weather into the air conditioning and were approached by a sales associate who wanted to know what we wanted from him. My friend Bruce told him that he was interested in a new barracuda and the sales person rudely responded by asking if “you boys are here to get out of the heat or to buy a car?“ Well, Russ and I immediately turned on our heels and walked out having not purchased a car for Bruce. I can’t recall what car Bruce ended up buying after that experience but needless to say it was not a Plymouth.
This lighter car must really MOVE with a 440.......Love/hate of the hubcaps. Those caps are neat and period correct BUT it would look so cool with Cragar mag wheels.

I don't see a right side door mirror , back then i guess they thought they didn't need one > but today it must be hard to drive a vehicle without one . > wonder if a right side mirror was on the option list

Hi Brady Dog, I believe it was a "order option" on the Barracuda (as seen on the window sticker), however not Dealership specific like a Mr. Norms Grand Spaulding Dodge "GSS 440 Dart" where they made 50 of them. If a Viewer has more knowledge, feel free to fill in information you're aware of, Lou
