My first car in 1977 was a 69 350 HO Firebird with a 3 speed manual and 3.55 rear gear. AC compressor had a larger diameter deep groove pulley as were the rest. Rallye IIs, Dark Metallic Blue with Black vinyl top and black interior, console. Car ran pretty good, kept up with a 340 Challenger but lost in 1/4 mile by 30 feet. Transplanted a 4 speed, bent the secondary stop and the fun began.

I had that same color car! Mine had the 350 HO engine but with the turbo hydra magic 400 with 3.90:1 safety track rear end. I used to eat most GTO’s and any 383 Road Runners. All I did was install a set of Hooker headers with a 3” exhaust all the way to the bumper. Mine had a factory tach in the dash next to the speedometer. It was factory redlined at 6,000 rpm.

350 Pontiacs can be setup to run VERY strong! I was running a stock 350 with 1969 heads and crane high lift can....it was just as fast as the original 400 I have back in the car. My user name is the car...

This was my friend's car and was restored at the same time as my 69 Camaro and were painted the same color green. He regrets selling it as he should. But he is a clown, and that's what clowns do.

Love the 350 HOs the most; 325hp in a small block! The Firebird 400s of that era were 330-340hp with a few rare exceptions @ 345hp (The RAM AIR IV). Not much difference in horsepower for all the extra weight in that big block!

Your comment is all over the place and shows you know very little about these cars. For starters, PMD never had a small block, that's Chevy talk! PMD used the same block. As far as your horsepower numbers, congratulations you've read some old dealer brochures or old muscle car magazines. The real hp output numbers among all muscle cars of that era were in reality much higher but due to increasing insurance rates and the gov coming down on auto makers, everyone down played the actual performance so they could push these muscle cars out the door to customers.

Dom PMD I bought the book 📚 The Fabulous Firebird by Michael Lamm in 1980 when I was 15. It stated that the 1967 Pontiac 326 became the 350 for 1968 with the engines crank and heads being redesigned for 2 barrel as well as the 4 barrel HO versions.

Dom PMD Yes I’m aware of the fudged horsepower ratings of that era and why the auto makers did so. For example Chevy’s 290hp 302 was actually about 350 horsepower!

I have a 350, put a 4 bbl on it from a 400. Intake and all. Also all parts for 350- are identical. No small block!

@@scottsharp3356 no sorry its heads are different...big valve vs small valve, & ho blocks had a cut out chamfer for the bore for those valves quench area. so not all the same
