Talk about making a silk purse out of a sows ear! That heavy 426 V-8 was over rated at 425 horsepower, is actually 350 SAE NET horsepower, while the 2019 Challenger with smaller 5.7 V-8 puts out more at 375 horsepower--is just as fast and will out corner this relic.

My experience back 'in the day' when racing my '66 Mustang against Camaros and Challengers/Cudas. They made the torsion bar set-up work in the Trans Am series but I never ran across one on the street that was any good in the corners.

@edjackson4389 4 года назад
@@AZCobraman The crazy thing is Mopars were essentially worthless to all but a select few back in the late 70's and all through the 80's. I had multiple chances to purchase Challengers, Road Runners, and Cudas, but passed on them because of the lack of quality body parts at that time. They had major rust problems .Now everyone thinks they are worth their weight in gold. I understand the appeal, but the pricing is completely out of hand.

@@edjackson4389 I always liked 'em myself, couldn't beat the styling IMO. I had a chance to buy a 440 Six-Pac Roadrunner before I got the Mustang but it had a lot of rust. Value-wise is the simple fact that they just didn't make all that many.

@@mescko actually i can have tall sidewalls and have good grip ( not sure where that mith started as great handling is more of a algebraic formulation ) and even more with a ruff track surface just because you choose to use 19"+ rims with sub 40 doesn't guaranty 1G+ grip as i have tried as a 20s something year old ( first time was on a FWD caddy 🤢 + ouchie ) and i rather like my stiffer ( than most stock coil springs of the big 3 ) T-bars on my b-body with 12"~brakes and 16-17"rims and a 50 and up sidewall series with wider tread withs and sticky rubber combination because tires make cheaper and easier to replace and tune springs that will soak up the extra energy wear and tear vs my expense chassis parts and or driveline and is better for NVH aka my kidneys don't get beaten up ECT.
