This is exactly what my father and I needed. We’re going to be installing this new side tank because not only did our in cab tank rust out, but it allows more room in the cab anyways. We have a 67 Ford F-250 2WD. Although, ours isn’t a camper special so we’re going to have to figure out a place to cut the hole on the side. Really appreciate the video man!

The new set of straps you bought are for a 73-79 truck or 78-79 bronco with the rear gas tank between the frame rails where the spare tire goes

Thank you for the info, I’m honestly not sure if I still have them. I believe the 73-79 auxiliary tank straps on LMC will work for the Bumpside trucks.

The fuel tank straps, you might want put rubber in between the straps and the tank. Just to protect the tank from rubbing and vibration. If you could get a pattern for that skid plate for would be awesome! Maybe do a video on the measurements. I’m sure it would help a few fellas.
@AJsGarage

I did get around to installing some rubber to protect the tank. I had to take it out to replace the sender and put some in. That’s a good call I will do that actually, I recently had someone reach out for measurements. Thank you for watching!

I had a 72 years ago that had 3 tanks. There was a valve you could switch in the cab to control fuel source. It was sweet. I could drive from Northern CA to LA and back almost without filling up if all 3 tanks were full. Do you have a valve to switch between the tanks? If so, please show in next video if possible. Nice work! Good video.

Roger Jackson Thank you! That’s awesome, three tanks where was the third? Was it in the rear fender? That’s decent gas mileage also. I have the selector right by the driver seatbelt.

Thanks for this video! Been wondering what it would take to install an auxiliary tank on my 70 F100 (I'm actually wanting to replace my in cab with an auxiliary tank). Haven't found much detail as to what pieces are needed, and your video lays it all out! Nice! Sure wish someone reproduced the filler neck, straps, and shield. I'll have to start hunting for a camper special to rob parts off of. I don't want to do the mustang tank in the back that's so popular as I don't want to have to fill my tank through the bed. My luck, I'd load it down with plywood and then realize I needed gas!
@AJsGarage
@AJsGarage 5 лет назад
C H I’m glad it helped! It took some time to find everything but the junkyard I have near me has a few camper specials. I wish they were reproduced also, but restoring those type of parts is half the fun! I know right I thought about that also but I wanted to keep the factory spare tire location.

@@jedclampett6466 I'd be interested in getting the filler neck and the cover that goes over the hole in the bed too, if that is available. I'm guessing the straps and shield would probably be expensive to ship (unless you happen to be anywhere near east TN), and I can probably fabricate what I'd need of those. I don't see a way to contact you on your channel, so I updated my channels "About" page to enable the "Business Inquiries" email option. Shoot me an email and let me know what you have, and how much you want for it. Thanks!

AJ I got a 1970 camper special , rear sender is not working but I cannot find a rear sender snd float anywhere . I’m running g on front but it’s a small tank. Where did you get your new tank and sender AJ?
@AJsGarage
@AJsGarage Год назад
I got mine from LMC. I’ve noticed that a few things from them are on back order right now. Have you tired all the major auto parts stores also? Or you could remove the sender from your truck and see if it cleans up and works.

Hi, I have an F250 camper special that I just bought 6 months ago but since then I have not use it until now and I have a problem with the fuel pump or the fuel control valve which is located in the left bottom side of the driver I forget to ask the owner about it and now I don know about how to us it about the positions and now for some reason the fuel doesn't pass to carburetor. I'll really appreciate any help Thanks
@AJsGarage
@AJsGarage 3 года назад
Sorry for the late reply! It might be gummed up, if you can take it off the truck and clean it. When it’s in the positions to select either tank it should click or you can feel a slight click. You can test it by disconnecting the fuel line to the carburetor and put it in a bottle so you don’t get fuel all over the place. Get the selector where you think is the right spot for either tank and turn the engine over. Hopefully the fuel pump will start to flow gas and you know that you are getting gas up to the carburetor

Do you think this tank would fit on a short wheel base truck. I hate the tank behind the seat.
@AJsGarage
@AJsGarage 3 года назад
I think it might, the tank is up by the transmission and has a decent amount of clearance to the rear axle. There are kits for a rear mounted tank in the frame rails.

I just happened back across your video after googling the part number for the locking gas cap I bought from LMC. Your video popped up in the search results and it looks like you used the same one I have. I’m curious if you have any issues with yours? Mine seems to seep gas from the key hole, making me wonder if perhaps it is not a vented cap.
@AJsGarage
@AJsGarage 3 года назад
I have kinda noticed a little bit of something coming from the keyhole. Didn’t think much of it but I don’t think it’s vented. I ordered a different style cap for my 74 which I believe is a vented cap because the tank had the EEC stuff can’t remember the part number for that one.
@chirkware
@chirkware 3 года назад
@@AJsGarage I’ve been daily driving mine for a few days and I’ve noticed the seeping getting worse. I’m also noticing that, despite starting it daily, it takes a bit of cranking to get going. Seems to backup it not being vented as lack of vent would cause negative pressure in the tank and suck the fuel away from the engine when it’s shut down. I guess I’m going to swap back to a plain vented cap. I wish LMC had reviews on their product pages. I like that Dennis Carpenter does, and I use them a lot more than LMC.
@AJsGarage
@AJsGarage 3 года назад
@@chirkware Yeah reviews would be nice. I’ve bought a few things recently from them as well. I’m wondering if there’s something else causing that issue though it seems odd that just the gas cap would do that.

@AJsGarage
@AJsGarage 2 года назад
David thank you for watching! I’m not sure but I don’t think an auxiliary tank like mine would fit because the transfer case would probably be in the way. You would be able to probably install a mustang tank between the frame rails at the back.
