In 1977 , i was 18 years old, I bought a 1970 model SJ from a guy, it had 67,000 mikes on it, the car was solid, very powerful, rode like a Cadillac, it had the automatic air leveling rear suspension, an awesome car. I was 18 years old, trying to impress everybody with the performance of the 455 motor bolted to the factory 4 speed. That's all ill say for now. I really liked that car.

that had to be fast. I transplanted a 428 bonneville engine into my 71 GP. it would get 3rd gear scratch sometimes with a stock 400 turbo. 🔧

I've had 2 GP-- both SJ and one a 400 and the other a 455 with the custom padded racing steering wheel from the factory-- black on black-- loved BOTH of them. I'd give anything to have MINE back now..

Our neighbor bought one of these new, in the color of copper, and I remember thinking that it was the coolest car I had ever seen! The buckets and console looked out of this world-thanks for this video!

My folks purchased a '68 Le Mans that was a special order. Not over optioned, but had enough. When the new models for '69 were out, we went and looked. The Tempest line was pretty much the same as '68, but then I saw the new Grand Prix and was in love. Distinctive, edgy, long and great lines, I would have traded the Le Mans off for it. But since I had no say, I just admired, and still do. Very nice looking Pontiac car.

Another note - John Z DeLorean should be remembered in much higher regard than he is. Whatever might have happened with him creating his own car company, there should be a statue of him outside the main entrance to the RenCen along with Harley Earl. Two of the greatest minds in GM's history.

Beautiful engine out there I don’t know whether that was a 455 or 400 Well actually the 455 only came with the SJ and then 69 it came with that 428

Actually the SJ and J models were inspired by the Duesenbergs. The door handles were copies of the SL Mercedes door handles.

Thanks, I had a 69' SJ with a 428 in it, damn thing would go like jack the bear !!! Dark green with a white vinyl top ( which I despised ), green interior, auto. They're almost 'impossible' to find, here in southern Ontario, they'd just purely rot to hell ! I'll take a Pontiac over a Chev any day !
