Just the thought of installing a windshield makes me shiver. You did an excellent job and explained how you did it clearly. Thanks a lot, Elin!

Very concise and informative video. I had a professional install mine on my tr4a but after watching you in this video I probably would have tackled it myself. Thanks for the great videos I always enjoy them.

Installing a windshield by oneself is a thankless and difficult job. You deserve a big round of applause for doing it successfully without breaking the glass!

I found that a 1/4" rope cord from tractor supply works easier than wire. When pulling the cord out, it stretches, making the cord easier to slide out of the gasket. It also doesn't have as much resistance when pulling the cord.

I can’t wait Elin! She’s looking like a real car instead of a lot of boxes of parts!

Very nicely done, an excellent job especially as sometimes on different cars they are not very easy to go in, ! 😊👍👍

@@paulmuff9883 I respect your knowledge and experience, but as an old mechanic I am sure you know that the carburetors should be looked at only after the ignition system is in 100% working order. That was the reason why I did not jump into the fuel system right away. I knew that it was running rich once I saw the spark plugs but I still needed to get there step by step. I never touched the jets. The mixture was just set too rich at idle. The warn shafts were the reason for too lean mixture but at open throttle as they were warn only on one side.

We do it with two people, one outside,one inside and pulling to the middle auf the window, so the rubber goes better over the lip and if I right remember we begin on the top, not on the bottem.
@davidwarr8600

I have changed the rubber on a few cars and have done it twice on my GT6. Unfortunately I slipped once while doing the Gt6 and came down on the corner of the glass and broke it. Putting in a windshield is the worst job to do. I have had the string break and I have had it dig into the rubber and cut it. It is so nerve wracking. Who wants to buy another windshield? Putting the finisher strip on the rubber is not bad but the worst has to be putting the chrome finisher strip on a Jag E-Type or a Mark 2. That is maddening. You made the job look fairly easy.

Hi Elin, as the old design seals are fairly rudimentary compared to todays “bonded” screens Do you often experience much in the way of windscreen leakage - in the old TRs?

Great job Elin, definitely not easy on your own. Have you seen those little roller tools for installing the chrome finishing strip?

Hi Elin , Enjoy watching your videos & of course your expertise . Only know the owner from what you have mentioned in your videos , but have to wonder . This project first started at the limo co. You were at & subsequently was with the owner for several years until you are now completing the restoration. The owner does not sound like a hands on enthusiast , so in a case like this , why buy a restoration project ? Would he not have been better off to buy a driver to begin with ?
