These old systems are far superior to new ones which are flashy junk. You can pick them up cheaply from ebay. Best system I ever heard was my old man's 1970 Goodmans system. They are more aesthetically pleasing too.
They’re not as cheap as you might think now. Most have faults or missing/broken bits (because they’re quite large and have moving parts and huge perspex covers). Rare to find one in really good working condition and cosmetically good too.
I got one identical from the dump, it worked for two days then no sound atoll. I kept it 5 year's planned to get it fixed , it got damaged during a flit , so back to the dump! When it worked it was perfect!
